PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 12/12/22

Welcome to our final written blog post of 2022. 

Literacy and English

Harrison – In Writing, we wrote a persuasive letter to East Renfrewshire Council about not removing the bins in Rouken Glen park and not cleaning the pond. We gave reasons as to why it would be bad to do this.  We were to convince them to keep the bins there and clean the pond.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Jace – In Maths, The Number Ninjas were learning how to do 2-digit multiplication with carrying.

IDL 

Kerr – In Topic, we were chopping fruit from the rainforest to make a fruit salad. I had to wrestle an orange! We learned the claw hold and the bridge hold. When we finished we tidied up, washed the dishes and ate our fruit. We also tried the coconut water.

Expressive Arts

Jamie – In Art, we sketched out the fruits that we were using to make a rainforest fruit salad. We learned how to use charcoal to shade it.

HWB

Scarlett – In HWB, we had different stations to learn about different medicines and what they were for and the age you had to be to take them.

RME

Stuart – In RME, we learned about Christmas in different countries. Then we had to use the Chromebooks to search up facts for a country of our choice. We could make a Google Slide or a poster.

P1 Nativity

Lilian – This morning we went to go and watch the P1 Nativity practise. They did so well!

PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 05/12/22

Literacy and English

London – In Writing, we wrote to the company Hair Burst because they use palm oil in their products and we wanted to convince them to stop using palm oil and persuade them not to destroy the rainforest.

Solo Talks

Luca V – For our Solo Talks we wrote about a hobby or a personal interest, mine was about penguins.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Harrison – In Maths, The Mathetes were learning about 2-digit division and we used bead strings and numicon to help us.

HWB

Jace – In HWB, we were looking at hazards in the come. They are something that can cause an emergency to form. We also acted out emergency situations and how to call for help.

Expressive Arts

Scarlett – In Art we learned how to sketch with pencils and we sketched different emotions and buildings.

IDL

Harry – In Topic, we looked at FairTrade and the journey of a banana.

PE

Ava – In PE, we practised scoring goals and then played matches.

PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 28/11/22

Literacy and English

Hasan – In Literacy, we were writing the end of a story and then we looked at the different story endings.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Emily – In Maths, The Number Ninjas were dividing by 2, 5 and 10.

PE

Charlie – In PE, we were playing football.

RME 

Kerr – In RME, we chose different countries to research and wrote about them. They are the countries that people in our class are from.

Expressive Arts

Harry – In Art, we created our own rainforest pictures using oil pastels.

Walk to School Week 

The JRSO’s led Walk to School Week with Mrs Bradley. 

Health and Wellbeing 

Harrison – In HWB, we were learning about the dangers of smoking and how it can affect your heart and lungs.

Social Studies (Topic) 

Jace – In Topic we were learning about deforestation and if it keeps happening in 100 years there will be no rainforests on the earth.

PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 21/11/22

Literacy and English

Jace – In Literacy we were learning about inferential questions. This is where you need to read between the lines to find the answer.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Scarlett – In Maths, The Mathletes were learning about area.

HWB

Kerr – It was anti-bullying week so we were talking about bystanders and upstanders with the I am Me P7 ambassadors.

London – In class we had paper cards about hidden disabilities and, given scenarios by Mrs Bradley we had to match up the names with the pictures.

IDL (Topic)

Harrison – In Topic, we were reading facts about animals and making notes about their adaptation in the rainforest.

Art

Hasan – Today in Art we worked together to make a tree for our wall display.

PE

Max M – In PE today we were passing in football and near the end we played mini matches.

We sent away a letter today to MP Kirsty Oswald for her Christmas Card Competition – we are keeping our fingers crossed! 

PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 14/11/22

Literacy and English

Harrison – In Literacy, for grammar we were learning about prepositions.

Book Week / Woodland

Ava – We went in to groups and Mrs Bradley gave us a classic fairytale to act out in the woodland. The rest of the class had to guess the fairytale.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Emily – In Numeracy and Mathematics, The Number Ninjas have been learning the 3 times table and we had to fill out a number square about the 3 times table.

School Trip

Gurleen – On Monday, we went to The Gurdwara and someone talked to us all about Sikhism.

PE

In PE, we have been learning to play rugby. Today we played mini matches and then at the end we had big final matches.

HWB

Hasan – In HWB, we made a growth mindset game. We had to make a game that would encourage the player to not give up.

Social Studies/Topic

Adam – In Topic, we were learning about the different types of animals in the rainforest and we sorted them in to categories – reptiles, amphibians, mammals and birds.

PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 07/11/22

Literacy and English

Harrison – This week in Writing, we were writing the start of a story because the start of a story is important because if it is good will encourage the reader to read on.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Max B – In Maths, The Mathletes were learning about the four times table.

Music

Emily – In Music, we were bouncing a ball and singing songs. When it said “pass the ball” in the song we passed the ball to someone else and they came in to the middle and we kept repeating the song. We also learned about the notes in music.

Art

London – In Art, we made a rainforest tree picture with oil pastels using warm and cool colours. We drew a circle and on the inside was warm colours and on the inside was cool colours. We could design the inside of the tree and the branches.

 

IDL (Topic)

Jace – In Topic we were learning about the layers of the rainforest. These are – 1) The Forest Floor, 2) The Understory, 3) The Canopy Layer and 4) The Emergent Layer.

HWB

Hasan – In HWB, we were doing growth mindset. We had a mountain and we had to write down what we felt at the bottom of the mountain when we couldn’t do something then what we did when we came over it at the top of the mountain.

PE

Scarlett – In PE, we were playing rugby. We were in different teams and played over an under with the ball to help with our passing and grip.

PC Singh

Gurleen – My Uncle, PC Singh came in to talk to the class about Sikhism.

PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 31/10/22

Literacy and English

Charlotte – In Writing, we were writing about a spooky setting. I picked a spooky forest and Mrs Bradley picked the 5 people below to be Star Writers.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Jace – In Maths, The Number Ninjas have been revising how to multiply by 2.

IDL (Topic)

Harrison – In Topic, we learned where there were rainforests in the world. We looked at South America and coloured in countries using a key on a map.

Expressive Arts

Oscar – In Art, we have been drawing toucans and been colouring them in with oil pastels.

Dyslexia Awareness

Emily – This week was Dyslexia Awareness week so we have been learning all about dyslexia and what it means to be dyslexic and we got a blue ribbon to wear.

PE

Scarlett – In PE, we were learning how to play rugby with Mr Eadie.

PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 24/10/22

Literacy and English

Luca V – In Writing we were choosing one of our best pieces of writing – we could choose from our beach or jungle settings and redrafted it on to a piece of paper and created a nice border.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Kerr – In Numeracy, The Number Ninjas did a test to how what we know about addition and subtraction.

IDL (Topic)

Max M – Our new topic is The Rainforest and all the animals that live there and the different species and how big rainforests are.

 

Walk to School Week

Emily – Some people walked to school this morning and took part in the walking bus on Wednesday and Friday. We got a sticker for walking to school and this morning we met Jackton the Dog.

HWB

Harrison – In HWB we were drawing inventions that would help someone.

PE

Hasan – In PE, we were playing rounders and some people were fielders and some were batters. Someone hit a home run!

Science

Jace – In Science, we were learning about energy with Mr Eadie. There are lots of different types of energy such as water energy, heat energy, light energy, sound energy and wind energy.

PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 10/10/22

Literacy and English

Hasan – In Literacy, we got our new books and we made  a prediction about what the next chapter would be about. Then we read the next chapter to see if our prediction was correct or incorrect.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Luca V – In Maths, The Mathletes were learning about the 3 times table. We had to show the 3 times table using arrays, skip counting and timesing.

RME

Scarlett – In RME, we were learning about the Sikh place of worship called the Gurdwara.

Art (Vikings) 

Charlotte – In Art, we were drawing a longboat for our Vikings topic. We had to use watercolour paints, pencils and we stuck on the sea with different ripped up sheets of paper.

PE

Harrison – In PE, we played hockey matches in four teams. It was  one team versus another. Then we played one big match across the whole MUGA with Miss Ralston.

Woodland

Jace – In Woodland, we are building Viking longhouses using sticks, tarp, pegs and some of the surrounding items.

HWB

London – In HWB, we were learning about if Usain Bolt was born to be a runner or if he was not. We learn that no one is born with talent, we learn skills.
