PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 23/01/23

Literacy and English 

Hasan – In Literacy, we were learning about Scottish Poems and using Scots language. We then wrote a rhyming poem using Scots.

Numeracy and Mathematics 

Max B – In Maths, The Mathletes were learning about directions and turning left and right and clockwise and anticlockwise.

Expressive Arts (Art)

Scarlett – In Art, we were taking off our shoes and we had to sketch them out. Then we used the charcoal sticks and pencils to shade them.

Expressive Arts (Music) 

Jace – In Music, we were learning a new beat and at the start of music we played a ball game where we could sing a song called “how many buses are in the station”.

PE

The Opus wasn’t working so we had to change our dance plans! 

Kerr – In PE, we used the parachute to play games. We had to run in to different spaces. We also played a game with the mats called pirates.

Assembly

Harrison – At assembly today some of the people from our class went up to present their Scots poems that we made on Thursday and Jace went up to say some Scots words and test the adults.

Outdoor Learning (RSPB)  

We presented our Wildlife Slides today. We also took part in a new RSPB challenge which will help us with our Writing next week. We made a list of what we could experience with 4 of our 5 senses in the woodland.

PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 16/01/23

Literacy and English

Harrison – In Writing, we planned our Scottish poem that we are going to be writing next week. We listened to different poems and songs.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Jace – In Numeracy, we were learning about compass points. The 4 main compass points are North, East, South and West. However, we know that there are 8 compass points.

Expressive Arts (RSPB)

Harry – For Art, we went in the woodland to collect 3 objects. Then we made a sketch of the objects to create a new picture.

IDL – Global Goals

Max M – For IDL, we talked about inventing something new. Next week we are going to build our inventions and present them to the class.

Luca V – We had to make a slogan, give the name for our company and a logo.

PE (Dance) 

Hasan – In PE we did Scottish dancing. This week we learned a new dance called Strip the Willow.

RME

London – In RME, we learned about Judaism and what is and isn’t the Jewish religion. We sorted them in to different columns.

Calligraphy

Scarlett and Gurleen have been practising their calligraphy at home and asked if they could teach this skill to the class. Using their own resources, including a Flipchart and video, the girls led a lesson on Friday afternoon.

Happy New Year! 

Literacy and English

Harry – In Writing, we were writing a fictional story. We could chose what we wanted it to be about.

Numeracy and Mathematics 

Scarlett – In Maths, The Mathletes were learning about plotting and finding grid references.

Global Goals Design Challenge (IDL)

London – In out chosen groups, we were to come up with our own product to meet 1 of the 6 Global Goals.

Jace – After we chose our product we told the rest of the class why we chose it, who it helps and what Global Goal it meets.

HWB

Aria – In HWB, we were drawing trees and describing what a good friend is e.g. happy and then we wrote our friends’ names in the trunk.

Expressive Arts

Lilian – In Art, we used pencils to draw 3 different weather types and we shaded them with sketching pencils.

PE (Dance)

Charlie – In PE, we were learning Scottish dances such as Canadian Barn Dance,  Gay Gordons and Military Two-Step. We also learned The Slosh.

Woodland 

Kerr – In the Woodland we made a smelly potions to help us discover the smells of different plants and things in the woodland. I even found some sort of vegetable in the ground.

We then came in to class and gave our potion a name, ingredients and what it does and then smelled everyone elses.
