PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 20/03/23

Literacy and English

Jace – In Writing, we were writing our story called The Magical Porridge Pot.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Hasan – In Maths, The Mathletes were learning 4-digit addition.

Emily – The Number Ninjas were learning about area. We had to estimate different areas then we had to draw specific areas in our jotters.

IDL

London – In our topic, we were making Google Slides for our Global Goals presentation. We made a poster and prototype earlier on.

Show Practise 

Harrison – In Show Practise, we did a whole run through and were able to complete our pom pom challenge too!

PE

Lilian – In PE, the MUGA was split in to 2 halves and 1 half was rounders and the other was football. Then we came inside and London and Kerr gave use a lesson about Tae-Kwon-Do.

Music

Max M – In Music, we learned a new pitch called ‘Doe’. It was one of the lowest we have done so far.

Literacy and English

Emily – In Writing, we were planning to rewrite a story called The Magic Porridge Pot.

Numeracy and Mathematics 

Jace – In Maths, we have been learning about fractions. Halves, wholes and quarters. We know what numerators and denominators are and can order fractions.

IDL

Lilian – In IDL, we were finishing our product from our companies and some of them are very good!

Snow Fun

Gurleen – Mrs Bradley let us go and play in the snow and there was lots of snow in the MUGA!

Show Practise

Harrison – In Show Practise, we have been practising like we are actually on stage.

PE

London – Today in PE, we were playing handball and first we split up in to 4 different teams. There was a goal keeper and other positions. Then 2 teams got in to 1 big team and same with the other then we played a big match at the end.

PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 27/02/23 – 06/03/23

Literacy and English and World Book Day

Emily – Last week for Literacy we were planning a story that we read and this week we rewrote the story but added/changed the story to what we wanted it to have in it.

Hasan – For World Book Day, every day we had a video of some of our teachers reading a book with a mask on and we had to guess t and they told the answers on Friday at the assembly.

Harrison – We also played World Book Day Among Us and it was extremely fun.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Lilian – The Mathletes and Number Ninjas have been learning about fractions.

IDL

London – In IDL, we were continuing to build our machines for The Global Goals. My group were repairing some parts of our machines and adding in extra details.

PE

Max M – In PE, we played netball in the hall.

Show Practise

Jace – In school we were taking turns saying our lines. We all had to sing songs from the show and I got to sing my solo.

Outdoor Learning

Kerr – This morning we went outside and played in the snow. Then afterwards we came inside and had hot chocolate to warm up.

Literacy and English

Harrison – In Writing, we wrote about our hero which is someone we are inspired by like a sports player or someone we know. I wrote about Naymar Jr.

Numeracy and Mathematics 

Max M – In Maths, The Number Ninjas were learning how to write down numbers to 9999.

Hasan – In Maths, The Mathletes were learning the 6x table.

 

RME/Pancake Day

Lilian – In RME, we had to match the items in the Synagogue and we also got pancakes from Mrs Bradley on pancake day!

IDL 

Scarlett – In IDL, we started making our product for our company.

HWB

Harry – In HWB, we were thinking of a unique word to describe ourselves then drew a self-portrait.

Expressive Arts

Jace – In Art, we were learning how to draw flowers and paint the colours. Next week we will be drawing flowers with a vase and it will look nice.

PE

Emily – In PE, we were learning how to do a bounce pass and how to hit the ball with our palm in handball.

Outdoor Learning

Ava – We made habitats in the woodland for the RSPB award.

PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 06/02/23 and 13/02/23

Literacy and English

Harrison – In Writing we were writing instructions on how to make something fictional last week and then this week we were writing instructions on how to make jam and butter sandwiches. Then afterwards we followed our instructions to make and eat our own jam and butter sandwiches.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Jace – In Maths, The Number Ninjas have just started subtracting from the 10s and 100s columns, it is very fun.

Max B – In Maths, The Mathletes have been learning 2-digit division.

Expressive Arts

Emily – Last week in Art we looked at the difference between primary and secondary colours. This week were drawing love hearts and painting around them inspired by Jim Dine.

IDL

Lilian – Last week in topic, we finished our posters and presented the final results to the class.

HWB 

Max M – In HWB, we were watching a video about a boy that got a present which was a dog but the dog only had 3 legs. Then the boy threw the dog on the floor but after we realised that the boy was the same as the dog because he had one leg missing. We looked at how quickly our emotions can change.

PE 

Scarlett – In PE, we were learning about 2 of the different passes in handball. We did the shoulder pass and the chest pass.

Literacy and English

Harrison – This week in Writing, we wrote poems about the weather in Spring, Autumn or Winter.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Jace – In Maths, The Number Ninjas were looking at how to multiply 2-digit numbers. We completed with an without carrying – it was really fun!

IDL – Global Goals Design Challenge

Hasan – In IDL, we made a poster about our company, how our prototype will work and diagrams.

HWB 

Max M – In HWB, we played Human Bingo to find out what people like and dislikes. For example, one was “do you have a dog?” We also acted out scenes about falling out with a friend.

RME

Stuart – In RME, we were learning about the Jewish celebration Shabbat.

Expressive Arts

Scarlett – In Art, we were given sweeties and we had to draw them. After we sketched them out we used charcoal to create different textures. Then we got to eat fresh sweeties!

PE

Max B –  In PE, we did our last day of Scottish dancing.

Languages Week Scotland

Emily – A parent visitor came in and taught us some Arabic.

PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 23/01/23

Literacy and English 

Hasan – In Literacy, we were learning about Scottish Poems and using Scots language. We then wrote a rhyming poem using Scots.

Numeracy and Mathematics 

Max B – In Maths, The Mathletes were learning about directions and turning left and right and clockwise and anticlockwise.

Expressive Arts (Art)

Scarlett – In Art, we were taking off our shoes and we had to sketch them out. Then we used the charcoal sticks and pencils to shade them.

Expressive Arts (Music) 

Jace – In Music, we were learning a new beat and at the start of music we played a ball game where we could sing a song called “how many buses are in the station”.

PE

The Opus wasn’t working so we had to change our dance plans! 

Kerr – In PE, we used the parachute to play games. We had to run in to different spaces. We also played a game with the mats called pirates.

Assembly

Harrison – At assembly today some of the people from our class went up to present their Scots poems that we made on Thursday and Jace went up to say some Scots words and test the adults.

Outdoor Learning (RSPB)  

We presented our Wildlife Slides today. We also took part in a new RSPB challenge which will help us with our Writing next week. We made a list of what we could experience with 4 of our 5 senses in the woodland.

PRIMARY 4A Class Blog – Week Beginning: 16/01/23

Literacy and English

Harrison – In Writing, we planned our Scottish poem that we are going to be writing next week. We listened to different poems and songs.

Numeracy and Mathematics

Jace – In Numeracy, we were learning about compass points. The 4 main compass points are North, East, South and West. However, we know that there are 8 compass points.

Expressive Arts (RSPB)

Harry – For Art, we went in the woodland to collect 3 objects. Then we made a sketch of the objects to create a new picture.

IDL – Global Goals

Max M – For IDL, we talked about inventing something new. Next week we are going to build our inventions and present them to the class.

Luca V – We had to make a slogan, give the name for our company and a logo.

PE (Dance) 

Hasan – In PE we did Scottish dancing. This week we learned a new dance called Strip the Willow.

RME

London – In RME, we learned about Judaism and what is and isn’t the Jewish religion. We sorted them in to different columns.

Calligraphy

Scarlett and Gurleen have been practising their calligraphy at home and asked if they could teach this skill to the class. Using their own resources, including a Flipchart and video, the girls led a lesson on Friday afternoon.

Happy New Year! 

Literacy and English

Harry – In Writing, we were writing a fictional story. We could chose what we wanted it to be about.

Numeracy and Mathematics 

Scarlett – In Maths, The Mathletes were learning about plotting and finding grid references.

Global Goals Design Challenge (IDL)

London – In out chosen groups, we were to come up with our own product to meet 1 of the 6 Global Goals.

Jace – After we chose our product we told the rest of the class why we chose it, who it helps and what Global Goal it meets.

HWB

Aria – In HWB, we were drawing trees and describing what a good friend is e.g. happy and then we wrote our friends’ names in the trunk.

Expressive Arts

Lilian – In Art, we used pencils to draw 3 different weather types and we shaded them with sketching pencils.

PE (Dance)

Charlie – In PE, we were learning Scottish dances such as Canadian Barn Dance,  Gay Gordons and Military Two-Step. We also learned The Slosh.

Woodland 

Kerr – In the Woodland we made a smelly potions to help us discover the smells of different plants and things in the woodland. I even found some sort of vegetable in the ground.

We then came in to class and gave our potion a name, ingredients and what it does and then smelled everyone elses.
