P3C – Week 18!

P3C have had a fantastic week!

Literacy

Pupils have been working hard on their reading books and their comprehension. Pupils have been learning about cause and effect (why something happens and what happens as a result). Pupils have been working on using a variety of different connectives to explain their answer.

Health and Wellbeing

Pupils have been learning about a ‘growth mind-set’ versus a ‘fixed mind-set’. Pupils have been discussing ways that they could help themselves when they are stuck with a fixed mind-set. Pupils have created a character to represent effort. Pupils had a great discussion on what the characteristics of effort are.

Numeracy

Pupils have been continuing working hard on their vertical calculations and have even created their own worded problems. Pupils have begun working on their times tables and have shown to already be experts!

P.E

This week pupils continued working on their fitness, creating their own stations for a group to follow.

RME

Pupils have been continuing learning about different parables in the Bible and have been working on retelling the story.

Topic

Pupils will be travelling around the world in their new topic, learning about different cultures and traditions. This week pupils have been learning all about Africa. Pupils even learnt an African dance, song and created some beautiful pictures of African wildlife.

Week 17- P3C!

Week 16

Week 16

Welcome back P3C!

P3C have shared all about their exciting adventures over their holidays. The class created a storyboard about their highlights over the holiday using adjectives and connectives to up level their sentences. It has been great to hear all their stories! Pupils also created their own New Year’s resolutions.

The pupils have been working hard on their vertical calculations and carrying on to the next column.

The pupils have been working hard practising their common words and reading books.

Pupils enjoyed their time out in Woodlands!

Pupils have been focusing on patterns in art this week. Pupils have been learning about warm tones and cool tones.

In R.E pupils have been learning about the story of ‘The Lost Coin’ and ‘The Two Builders’. Pupils were very creative with their storyboards, using different objects around the class to retell their story.

P3C – Week 16!

Literacy 

In literacy, pupils continued their great work on their reading books. This week pupils focussed on a non fiction book.

Numeracy

In Numeracy, pupils continued their hard work on their vertical calculations and were challenged with the questions being put into a worded context.

P.E.

In P.E pupils comtinued with their fitness. Pupils used their knowledge of the previous lessons to create their own mini circuit which they demonstrated to other groups.

Woodlands

In Woodlands, pupils were creative and creates some outdoor art using the nature around them.

China Topic

Pupils were comparing their school life to school life in China. Pupils compared timetables and wrote a short letter to a friend in China. In partners, pupils then toke on different roles from different schools discussing how their schools are similar and how they are different. Pupils also compared food in Scotland to food in China. Pupils created their own menu and food plates which they had to share with a head chef in China.

R.M.E

Pupils learned the story of the lost coin and recreated the story by using different lose parts. Pupils then narrated the story.

P3C – Week 15!

Literacy


This week in Literacy pupils have been working hard on their comprehension and visualisation.

 

Numeracy



In Numeracy pupils have been continuing their hard work on vertical calculations. Pupils have been working on borrowing from the next column in their subtraction calculations.

 

China Topic

This week the pupils have been  looking at Chinese New Year and have been learning about all the traditions. Pupils created their own Chinese New Year Posters and Chinese New Year dragons.

P.E

This week the pupils continued working on their fitness. Pupils took part in a fitness bingo challenge. Pupils worked hard together to complete their bingo board.

RME

Pupils learned the story of The Lost Sheep. Pupils worked in partnered to sequence the story together and create a story board.

Art

Pupils created their own Christmas villages focusing on shape, line and pattern.

P3C – Week 13

Literacy

P3C have been working very hard on their reading books this week, continuing their hard work on their comprehension.

Numeracy

The pupils have been working hard on their vertical calculations and have been working on carrying onto the next columns.

RM.E

The pupils have been learning about the story of Adam and Eve. The pupils worked together to put the story in the correct sequence.

Health and Well-being

       

The pupils discussed what it meant to keep thing in perspective. In pairs, pupils sequenced cards from least to most serious. The pupils then discussed each scenario and what reactions they might have.

Space Topic

P3C have done a fantastic job with their solo talks this week, I am so impressed with all of their hard work and the class have all learned so much from one another. Great job primary 3!

 

 

P3C – Week 12!

P3C have had a an excellent week!

 

Literacy

Pupils have been working hard on visualising a setting by carefully listening and reading a text, creating a picture in their mind of what they can see. Pupils have been continuing working on their comprehension by carefully reading their text to back up their answers.

As part of Book Week Scotland, the pupils read the story ‘There is  No Dragon in this Story’. The pupils then created shadow puppets of different characters in the story and used a torch to see how the shadows can alter.

Numeracy 

The class have been working very hard on their vertical addition sums and have been learning how to carry over into the next place value columns.

P.E.

The pupils have been working hard on their fitness this week, taking part in various different stations.

Space Topic

The pupils had great fun at their trip to the Science Centre. The pupils loved the Planetarium and got to learn all about stars, planets, day and night and so much more!

P3C – Week 11!

P3C have had another great week!

 

Literacy

This week pupils have been working on visualisation. Pupils were read a story and had use their imagination to picture what they could see. Pupils were working super hard on their reading books and comprehension, continuing to work on using evidence from the text to back up their answer.

Numeracy

In Numeracy, the pupils have been learning about vertical calculations. Pupils have been working on laying out their calculations (being super super careful one digit is per box) and have been working on regrouping.

Art

This week pupils have been learning about pointillism. Pupils have started their own pictures of flowers using tiny dots and mixing different colours to create different shades.

P.E.

Pupils have been continuing working on their possession games and have been creating their own games in groups for the class to follow.

Health and Well-being

This week the pupils have been looking at humour. The class had a discussion on why laughing is good for us, how it makes us feel better but also how it can be used in a hurtful way.

Space Topic

This week the pupils have been looking at famous astronauts and how they have impacted space history. Pupils created their own time lines to showcase all of the key events.

P3C – Week 10!

P3C have had another great week!

Literacy

The pupils have been working hard at their comprehension and have began showing great understanding of their reading books by providing evidence from the text. The pupils have been continuing working on their inferences, making predictions by using the text and pictures.

 

Maths

In Maths with Miss Lamb, the class have been working on their estimating and measuring skills. We enjoyed using metre sticks to estimate and check the length and height of different classroom objects. We know that we record a metre with an ‘m’. The pupils were able to use their greater than and less than skills to compare different measurements. Next week,  we will explore centimetres.

 

Numeracy

In Numeracy, the pupils have been working on their rounding and estimating calculations. Pupils were challenged with  problem solving questions and some very high  numbers!

 

Woodlands

Pupils had great fun at Woodlands this week. Pupils were challenged to measure outdoors by making estimations. Pupils also made their very own worm hotel!

P.E

This week the pupils went into groups to create their own warm ups to demonstrate to the class. The pupils then worked on their possession skills.

Art 

This week the pupils created their own beautiful bonfire night pictures using chalks, pastel and paints.

 

French

Pupils have been revising all the different colours in French and have been learning to say what their favourite and least favourite colour is.

 

Health and Wellbeing

The pupils have been discussing what ‘courage’ means to them and times they have shown great courage. The pupils then made their own shields to display how they show courage.

Space Topic

This week the pupils were looking at constellations. Pupils were given spaghetti and marshmallows to design their own model of a constellation. Pupils then made their very own constellation projectors to take home. The pupils shined a torch through the projector which  displayed their zodiac sign!

P3C – Week 9!

P3C have had another great week!

Numeracy

The pupils have been learning to round numbers to the nearest 10 to estimate calculations. The class were then challenged to explore different word problems. The pupils had to find the calculation, then round the numbers to the nearest 10 and give an estimated answer. Pupils then had a go making their own questions for their partners.

 

Literacy

This week the pupils have been working super hard on their inferences. Pupils were given different short passages were they had to look for clues in the text to predict what they think would happen next and to draw conclusions.  Pupils were also given different picture cards were they had to look closely for clues to try and guess what was happening. Pupils have been working hard on their reading books continuing with their comprehension. The class have been working on backing up their answers by providing evidence from the text.

 

P.E.

This week the pupils have been continuing with their possession games. Pupils even got the chance to lead the lesson by carrying out different activities with the class.

Art

Pupils have been learning about tone in drawings. The pupils used oil pastels to draw a lovely portrait of a pumpkin. Pupils then continued on with the Halloween theme by creating their own Witch hat!
