P3C – Week 28!

  1. Literacy

P3C have been working hard on their reading books this week. Pupils have shown great understanding of their novels through creating story boards and comprehension. Pupils have been continuing to work on characterisation in Writing this week based on characters from Alice in Wonderland. Pupils have been working on describing their characters appearance, personality, actions and speech.

Numeracy

Pupils have been working hard on their multiplication and division this week. Pupils have been working on sharing equal amounts.

Art

 
Pupils have been working on pattern and colour this week and have had lots of fun creating beautiful art for their spring show. They are very excited to show all their hard work off!

Topic

As part of the pupils Olympics topic, pupils created and designed their own medals made out of clay.

P3C – Week 27!

Literacy

In Literacy this week pupils have been working hard on their reading books and their comprehension. Pupils have been working on up-levelling their sentences.

In Writing this week pupils have focused on characterisation on one of the characters from Matilda. Pupils were able to discuss and describe the characters appearance, personality, their interests and how they speak. Pupils enjoyed sharing their writing pieces with the class.

Numeracy

Pupils have been working on their multiplication, division, ordering and sequencing and working out the missing number in a calculation. In Maths, pupils have been working on time.

Music

In Music pupils learned two new beats. Pupils enjoyed participating in various different activities and working together to create a beat.

P.E.

Pupils enjoyed working as a team in various different challenges and activities.

Art

Pupils have had lots of fun creating their butterflies focusing on pattern and symmetry for their spring show.

Topic

The pupils have become experts using the programm Tinkercad to create their excellent Olympic stadiums.

P3C – Week 26!

Literacy

Pupils have been working hard on Literacy this week. Pupils worked on their character descriptions – looking at appearance, personality, setting and speech.

Numeracy

Pupils have been working hard on their mental strategies this week. Pupils have been learning to share equal amounts and have started division and have been continuing to practise their times tables.

Topic

Pupils have began creating their own stadiums using Tinkercad. Pupils have carefully looked at various different stadiums for inspiration and have been working very hard to create their own.

PE and Woodlands

Pupils enjoyed woodlands this week. Pupils enjoyed using nature around them to create different patterns.

P3C – Week 25!

Literacy

I

P3C have worked very hard on their spelling this week, specifically on the ‘ou’ sound. Pupils were very creative with their sentences. Pupils have been working hard on their reading books this week, and have been working on their expression when reading. Pupils worked on their comprehension, showing their understanding of the text.

Numeracy

Pupils began learning how to divide by 2 and 3. Pupils used their great knowledge of their times table to help them. Pupils continued working hard on their multiplication vertical calculations. We have continued working on finding the missing number in a calculation.

Writing

Pupils have been working on character description. Pupils created a character description on the Gruffalo – describing his appearance, personality, where he lives and how he speaks. Look at some of the brilliant examples of writing below –

PE

Pupils have been working hard on their rebound games. Pupils have been working well as a team and have been taking on some very difficult challenges!

Art

Pupils have had  a lot of fun creating their spring art and have put  a lot of hard work into their flower pots.

P3C – Week 24!

Literacy

Pupils worked hard on their reading books this week, showing great understanding of their texts by beginning to explain the story in their own words. Pupils enjoyed celebrating World Book Day this week learning all about the famous author John Fardell and his exciting, adventurous stories!

Numeracy

Pupils have been continuing all their hard work on their tables and worded problems. Pupils had fun creating their own worded problems for the class to solve.

P.E.

Pupils have shown great leadership and teamwork in P.E. this week. In groups, pupils took turns to demonstrate different games for the class to follow.

Topic

Pupils enjoyed creating their own costumes for the Olympics for different athletes, thinking about what materials would be appropriate and how it can stand out to a large crowd of people. Pupils also began designing costumes for the opening ceremony that they will host.

Art

Pupils had fun creating spring art this week. Pupils were focusing on shape this week which was shown in the beautiful vases they have created.

P3C – Week 23!

P3C have had a super fun week!

Numeracy

In numeracy, pupils have been working very hard on multiplication. Pupils enjoyed different games of snakes and ladders, bingo and other activities to help practise their tables. Pupils worked on independently laying out their vertical multiplication calculations. Pupils worked on worded context questions to put their knowledge of their tables to the test. Pupils worked on finding the missing number or operator in a calculation – showing their excellent problem solving skills!

Literacy

Pupils have been working on their very hard on their spelling sound this week ‘wa saying wo’. Pupils created excellent silly sentences and stories using their spelling words. Pupils have been working hard on their reading books this week. Pupils had shown great understanding of their text through their comprehension. Pupils have been continuing working on their skill – skimming and scanning. Pupils began using dictionaries to help them correct their spelling and find definitions of tricky words.

P.E.

Pupils demonstrated excellent teamwork in PE this week. Pupils worked very hard on their relay races this week and encouraged each other by cheering their team on. Pupils then had the chance to create their own relay races to show the class.

Topic

Pupils have started their topic on the Olympics this week. Pupils will take charge on presenting the Olympics for next year. The class created a KWL grid on what they already know about the Olympics and what they would like to know. Pupils then used the Chromebooks to research the questions they had asked. Pupils had a look at different marketing strategies the Olympics have used in the past and what they would do to up level their own advertisement. Pupils then planned out their own Olympic medal and chose their favourite design.

P3C – Week 22!

P3C have had an excellent week!

Numeracy

This week the class have been working very hard on their times tables. Pupils created their own worded questions for their partners to solve. Pupils worked hard using their problem solving skills, carefully reading the question to solve the problem. Pupils learned to independently lay out their vertical multiplication calculations. Pupils worked on continuing sequences and recognising patterns within numbers. Pupils also worked on finding the missing number in a calculation. 

Literacy

Pupils world hard on their spelling sound this week ‘soft g’. Pupils enjoyed being challenged with their new books this week and showed great understanding of their text through comprehension. Pupils worked hard on their new skill – skimming and scanning. Pupils worked on extending their answers by using different connectives.

Health and Wellbeing

Pupils shared all the great things they love about their family and how they like to spend their time with their family.

PE

Pupils enjoyed continuing with their rebound games and showed excellent teamwork .

Topic

Pupils learned how animals adapt to suit their environment. Pupils created a poster showing their knowledge of the different climates.

P3C – Week 21!

P3C have had a fabulous week!

Numeracy

Pupils have been working hard on their multiplication this week. Pupils have been working on solving different worded problems, putting their knowledge of the times tables to the test!

Literacy

Pupils worked on cause and effect this week – explaining why something happens. Pupils looked at a variety of different scenarios and discussed what would possibly happen as a result. Pupils worked hard on their reading books this week, and showed great understanding of their books through their comprehension.

P.E

Pupils continued on their rebound games this week and have continued to show great teamwork, well done P3C!

Topic

Pupils took a trip to Iceland this week and took a close look at the climate in Iceland. Pupils then researched all about the Northern Lights and created excellent posters showcasing their knowledge. Pupils then further researched climates in different parts of the world and shared what they had learned with the class.

Woodlands

Pupils collected a variety of different items outdoors and created a tally chart using chalk to total their findings. Pupils then had to find a variety of different 2D and 3D objects with certain criteria. Pupils then took on the challenge of creating a portrait using what they could find around them.

STEM

This week pupils were very lucky and got a visit from a special visitor! Pupils learned all about germs and bacteria and how to properly wash their hands. Pupils then took role as a doctor and matched the correct symptoms to the disease.

Health and Well-being

Pupils discussed the important people in their life that help look after them and make them happy.

P3C – Week 20!

Literacy

 

Pupils have been working on both fiction and non-fiction texts this week. Pupils have been working in skimming and scanning texts to carefully find the information they are looking for.  Pupils have also been working hard on their reading books, reading with great expression!

Numeracy and Maths

Pupils have been working hard in numeracy this week. Pupils have been continuing practising their times tables and have even began looking at vertical multiplication sums! Pupils have also been continuing their hard work on money and change and time.

 

P.E

Pupils have been continuing their rebound games in P.E and have been demonstrating excellent teamwork!

Topic

Pupils have been very enthusiastic about their current topic ‘Around the World’. Pupils have been looking closely at climates around the world and why we have different climates. Pupils then looked at how the climate is changing around the world. Pupils created a news report for a news channel reporting on the impact on Greenland as the Arctic heats up. Pupils researched how the change in climate is going to affect people, animals and jobs.
Pupils then looked at Mexico – looking at celebrations, food, culture, dance and even started designing their own Mexican mirrors!

P3C – Week 19!

P3C have had a great week!

Health and Wellbeing

P3C have been discussing how to overcome challenges in their learning. Pupils discussed how learning can be similar to a challenging mountain. Pupils created a poster on how they can improve on their learning and what challenges they would like to set themselves.

Literacy

Pupils have been continuing their work on cause and effect. Pupils have worked hard on their reading books and their comprehension, continuing to practise on extending their sentences.

 

Numeracy and Maths

Pupils have been working hard practising their times tables and working out some very tricky worded problems! Pupils have been continuing their practise on vertical calculations, paying close attention to their place value.

The children have been focussing on money in Maths with Miss Lamb. They have been using their addition skills to find the totals of different coins, and to solve word problems, as well as their subtractions skills to calculate how much change they would get at the shop. Here the boys had to use coins to get a total of £5 but with the challenge of not using £1 or £2 coins, and by not only using 50p coins.

Topic

Pupils began the week by looking at the seven different continents and looking at the Seven Wonders of the World.

This week pupils travelled to Mexico! Pupils learned all about the Mexican culture, famous places to visit, popular foods, animals that live in Mexico, the language spoken and created some beautiful art inspired by by Mexico!

 

P.E.

Pupils have been enjoying their rebound games in P.E. Pupils worked together as a team in various different activities.

Woodlands

Pupile enjoyed their time out at Woodlands this week. Pupils were challenged to create a habitat for animals  with particular dimensions and criteria.

Science

Pupils were learning about what a plant needs to grow. Pupils created excellent informative posters on what plants rely on to grow.
