Primary 3C have had another fantastic week!

Maths

The theme of Maths Week Scotland focussed on the Beauty of Maths. P3C considered where and when we use Maths in real life. They worked with Miss Lamb to create these wonderful tessellations, where 2D shapes were placed together with no overlaps or gaps. The children then chose colours to create a pattern. This involved a lot of concentration and hard work! We think they look beautiful! We got to share our learning at assembly this morning and hear what the other classes got up to.
Woodlands

As part of Maths week the pupils were challenged to look for symmetry outdoors. It was amazing to see how much symmetry is all around us. The pupils even designed their own symmetrical pictures using chalk. The pupils then took on the challenge of creating symmetrical poses with their partner.
Space

As part of our Space Topic and Maths week the pupils constructed their own 3D rockets. We began by discussing features of a rocket and even watched a clip of a rocket launching into space! The pupils were able to identify what shapes we would need to construct our rockets. Next week the pupils will launch their rockets outside to see how far they can go and measure the distance their rockets can travel. The class were then given a construction challenge during their Soft-Start to create a rocket.

Hand writing

This week the pupils were working on joining the letters ‘LL’. The pupils were able to display beautiful hand writing – well done!
Health and Wellbeing

This week in class the class have been looking at qualities that makes a good friend. We read the book ‘The Jelly Donut Difference’ which focuses on Leah and Dexter, a brother and sister who don’t always get along, but eventually learn about kindness and generosity. The class then discussed examples of times people have been kind to them and came up with a list of different ways we can all show kindness. The pupils then created their own donut box ‘A Dozen Ways to be Kind’.
House Quiz

The pupils then took part in a house quiz as part of Maths Week. The pupils were asked challenging questions and were able to work extremely well as a team.
Literacy

Pupils have been continuing to work on their comprehension skills in literacy and working hard on their Story World books. This week we have been revising the ie, i_e, igh and y sounds. The pupils had great fun going on a word hunt around our library to try and find different words!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
