Welcome back to this weeks blog.  Here are a few photographs of our learning journey this week!

Literacy

On Wednesday we learned about plurals – Rose

We learned how to use ies, es and s – Haroon

We also learned how to write a diary entry on behalf of someone else- Brooke

Numeracy

This week we were learning about multiplication.

We were in 5 groups and one group was doing multiplication questions at the board, one was doing repeated addition – Rose

One of the groups were doing arrays with play dough – Calum

Some of us were learning our odd and even numbers – Arran

We put the numbers into odd and even piles – Jamie

Odd numbers are 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 – Jamie

Health and Wellbeing

Last week, we worked in groups to create posters for each emotion.

This week, we were learning about things that trigger our emotions – Finn

We also learned about different behaviours – Haroon

Week Beginning 10th January 2022

What a wonderful week and a half we have had in Primary 3C.  It was lovely seeing everybody again after the break and we were all very excited to start a new learning journey for this term. 

Here are a few photos displaying some of the new things we have been learning:

Social Studies

This week we were learning about needs and wants – Lewis

A need is something that you need to survive.  For example, you need to have shelter – Sunny

A want is something that you want but you don’t need it and you can still survive without it.  An example is a car and  TV – Rhys

Music

In music this week, we were listening to Australian music.  One part of the song was called the chorus and the other part was called the verse.  There was a girls name in the song and she was called Matilda – Haroon

It was Aboriginal music.

Art and Design

We were making a birds eye view of a field – Freya

We were focusing on making different shapes – Fynn

We also focused on create different types of lines and textures – Sophie

Numeracy and Mathematics

We were learning how to measure.  We went around the class and measured various items with rules and a metre stick – Brooke

We were learning how to measure in centimetres and metres – Lewis and Benjamin

Our Last Full Week of Term 2!

Welcome to the last full week of term 2’s blog!  We have had such a fantastic term in Primary 3C as I’m sure you have seen in our previous blogs.  We are all looking forward to having some time to relax over the Christmas period, and start fresh for the new year in January.

Welcome to this weeks blog!

Numeracy and Maths

This week we have been learning how to tell the time.  We have been learning about digital time and reading an analogue clock – Rhys

We have been focusing on o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to – Rose

This week we logged on to Kodable and this week we focused on conditioning – Sunny

Growth Mindset

We were talking about how we would feel climbing up a mountain – Freya

This is similar to our learning, because you might be stuck climbing up a mountain and you might need help and that can be the same with our work in class – Ben

We were talking about how we just need to keep trying and not give up!

Week Beginning 29th November 2021

We have had a lovely week in Primary 3C!  We were very happy that it was the 1st of December and we could start our class advent calendars!

Literacy

We were learning this week to skim and scan different texts to help us answer questions – Sunny

We used a Christmas job advertisement to help us answer different questions – Lewis

Numeracy and Maths

This week, some of us were learning to do do vertical subtraction calculations – Finn

This week we used Kodable to help us learn about giving directions – Brooke

We had mini characters and we needed to use up, down, forwards, backwards, left and right to collect stars – Freya

 

Our Advent Calendar

In our class, we are opening a book advent calendar every day and then we will read the book in class.

1st December – Ben opened ‘The Crocodile Who Didn’t Like Water’.

2nd December – Calum opened ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Race Against Time’.

3rd December – Jude opened up ‘The Snowman’.  This one really got us into the Christmas spirit!!

4th December – Finn opened ‘Factopia’.  We really enjoyed reading some interesting facts from this book.

 

RME

This week we were learning about Jesus and different miracles that he performed – Ben

 

Other

On Thursday, Calum and I made 2 engines and one of them was a Dodge Challenger V8 – Haroon

Haroon made an Audi TTRS Flat-4 – Calum

When Sunny and Daniel were finished their work on Wednesday, they decided to create their own story about Christmas.  The boys loved sharing this during Show and Tell on Friday!

Week Beginning 22nd November 2021

Welcome to this weeks blog!  We have had lots of fun in our class and can’t wait to share our learning with you.

Woodland

This week in Woodland we were making famous landmarks using the outdoor materials.

We made the Arizona Crater.

 

We made the Eiffel Tower.

 

We made Stonehenge.

 

We made the Golden Gate Bridge.

 

We made the Eiffel Tower out of logs, sticks and mud.

 

We made an Egyptian tomb.  It had secret passageways.

 

We made the Statue of Liberty.

 

We made the Eiffel Tower out of sticks and leaves.

 

We made the Golden Gate Bridge out of sticks and leaves over the tyre.

 

Science

On Tuesday we were doing an experiment on an apple.  We made it mummified.  This links with our topic on the Egyptians.  We will check our results in one week – Rose

We cut the apple into quarters and then mixed salt and baking powder together to make natron and then we put it on the apple.  We left the other half plain to compare the results – Ben

We use natron because in Ancient Egypt, the Egyptians used natron when they were being mummified – Rhys

Literacy

We were moving round station and we were working on our adjectives, nouns and verbs – Freya

When we came into class on Thursday morning our chairs had disappeared!  Benjamin thought that it was an elf! – Finn

We found out that our chairs had gone on strike!

We then wrote a letter to the chairs asking them to come back to our classroom!  We missed them very much! – Daniel

Growth Mindset

This week we were learning about different jobs.  We discussed the different jobs that we wanted to do and we thought about what we needed to learn before we get that job – Sunny

Book Week Scotland 2021!

Book Week Scotland!

We had lots of fun celebrating Book Week Scotland in our classroom!

Lots of us brought our favourite books into school! – Toby

We read a book called, ‘There is no dragon in this story’.  We were making our own houses for the three little pigs.  We could use straws, coloured paper, lollipop sticks and Lego.  We made one with Lego and one without – Freya

When we were making the three little pigs houses, we had to use a lot of sellotape to stick it altogether! – Charlotte

We had to make our houses strong so they were big bad wolf proof – Ben

We made our own bookmarks to use when we are reading our favourite books in class! – Brooke

 

Numeracy and Maths

We were learning to give and follow directions.  We were using Bee bots and we were programming the Bee bots to go from one area of a mat to another – Benjamin

 

Egyptians

Last week, we were making Egyptian brochures and we had a competition on Friday.  We looked through everybody’s brochures and completed a blind vote for our winners – Rose

Read, Write Count Bags

We were very happy to receive our Read, Write, Count bags on Thursday

Woodland

We had lots of fun exploring our Woodland area this week!

We had lots and lots of fun in Woodland this week!!

Health and Wellbeing

We were learning about Growth Mindset this week – Brooke

If you have a fixed mindset that means that you quit if you do something wrong.  If you have a growth mindset, it means that if you get something wrong then you keep trying – Finn

We split into different groups and were assigned different roles.  The roles were manager,  encourager, reporter and recorder.  We were then given some scenarios and had to come up with some solutions!

IDL

We made lots of different creations this week!

Literacy

I made a picture based on a picture in Esio Trot.  I then write why I liked that picture – Haroon

We were learning how to use onomatopoeia in our writing this week – Sunny

It is the sound of an action – Finn

Onomatopoeia is like when you jump in a puddle it would make a ‘splash’! – Ben

Numeracy and Mathematics

We were drawing routes with the chalk and then we were guiding our partners to follow the directions by using the words forwards, backwards, left, right, up and down – Freya

We also learned to use clockwise and anti-clockwise.

We were dancing to a song that you needed to move your body in different directions and positions – Calum

We had to know our lefts and rights!

Week beginning 1st November

Welcome back to the blog!

Woodland 

We were making Egyptian pictures and we made pyramids by using stones, leaves and grass – Rhys

When we were making the pictures we made the Pyramids of Giza and the River Nile – Rose

I didn’t use stones, I made myself into a Pharaoh by using leaves – Lewis

Art

We were making silhouettes.  We created Halloween pictures out of black paper.  We painted a night sky by blending paints.  After that, glued the paper on to the painted paper.  – Finn

 

Numeracy and Mathematics

We were learning to give directions.  We made characters and we had to get them to different spots on a grid – Sunny

Break the Rules Day!

You could break 10 rules on Break the Rules Day!  We decided to break lots in our class!

Woodland

This week in Woodland, we went on an Autumn adventure and gathered lots of Autumn materials – Jude

We found different coloured leaves, some were brown, yellow and some were still green! – Matthew

We gathered Autumn items to help us with our writing on Thursday – Rose

We were writing an acrostic poem about Autumn – Freya

P.E

In P.E we played some games.  We played Chaos Tig, Halloween Corners and Halloween Tig – Sunny

With Mr McMillan, we played Basketball.  We practised dispossession, intercepting and dribbling – Ben

Numeracy and Mathematics

We were learning about what a right angle is – Lewis

We created a right angle checker and we used it to help us find right angles – Brooke

We searched our classroom and found lots of right angles – Lucy

 

Other

Haroon and I made a Cessna 172 engine.  It is a type of plane that is very very popular around the world – Calum

Inside the engine, we put some cogs in and we put a lever in so it went around.  We also added a propeller and a handle to turn it – Haroon

We made a haunted mansion for Halloween – Brooke and Freya
