Hello and welcome to our blog.

This week as part of our Natural Disasters topic we have been learning about Volcanoes. We have found out lots about them. This included –  where they occur, the parts of a volcano , different types of volcanoes and the difference between active, dormant and extinct volcanoes.

We then created our own volcano  and loved seeing it erupt!

We had a great time and enjoyed the lovely weather too!

IDL Blog May

Welcome to your latest IDl Blog. We have now completed Learning  Journey 3 – Scottish Foods. Our Learning from now until the Summer Break will focus on the RSPB Wild Challenge Bronze Award. We will achieve the award if we complete a series of challenges to support nature. With all of the children’s prior learning about Climate, Food Chains and Habitats, they are more than ready to rise to this challenge.

We kicked off this challenge by making bird feeders to mark World Earth Day. We used recycled cardboard to make hanging shapes, coated them in fat and then added bird seed. We then observed the grassy area in front of the school over time to see if the feeders attracted more birds to the area.

Our next challenge was to conduct a BioBlitz survey. It took real patience to sit and see what changed in our Bioblitz circles as we observed. It’s just as well we’ve been working so hard on our Focusing Meta Skill!

We are looking forward to moving on with our nature challenges – let’s hope the weather holds for us.

Week beginning 28.4.25

Welcome to our blog

IDL

Our new IDL topic is Natural Disasters. This week we learned about the ten most common natural disasters around the world and hurricanes.

“I liked learning about the hurricanes because I was able to label the different parts of it like the eye” (Jura)

“I like learning about hurricanes as we got to build a house using Kapla to see if it was strong” (Eva)

We designed a building that we thought would be hurricane safe. We also learned what to do if there was a hurricane.

We learned about hurricane seasons and in what countries they are likely to occur.

PE

We have been enjoying our term 3 PE so far.  We are  taking part in athletics and striking and fielding.

We are taking part in a variety of races and team games.

” I really like playing rounders and working in a team.” (Penelope)

“I loved the relay races so I can get faster at running” (Carson)

“We jumped over hurdles in a race. It was fun.” (Harry)

We are working through our solo talks and I have been so impressed with the variety of topics chosen  and the self-confidence the children have shown when presenting to their peers.

Hello and welcome to our blog .

The children have been working extremely hard this week rehearsing  for their show “There’s a Sunflower in my Supper.” They are very excited for the big day on Wednesday and we are sure that you will be very impressed with their singing, dancing, narrating and overall enthusiasm. We certainly have a class of superstars in P3a!

Solo Talks

P3a have worked hard at home preparing their solo talks.   The variety has been outstanding and the children  presented confidently. They even took questions from their audience on their chosen subject.

Well done everyone who presented this week! We will continue with this next week.

P3a

Week beginning 10.2.25

Good afternoon and welcome to our blog.

We were delighted to welcome our parents and carers to our class this week.  We completed various tasks relating to our IDL project Human V Robot.  Making lungs and creating a programme for our Beebots seemed to be the favourites.

We also created our first non-chronological report. Everyone worked hard researching the skeleton and the organs. We found excellent facts that were included into our reports.  We were able to sort the information into the correct sub-headings and ensure that our note taking were transferred into  wonderful sentences.

In maths we have been learning to giving change from various amounts and finding  different ways to make amounts from a variety of notes and coins.

Have a wonderful weekend

Week beginning 20.1.25 and 27.1.25

Hi everyone

We have been very busy in P3a.

We have continued to work with our P7 Digital Leaders to help improve our ICT skills. We have learned more about Micro Bits and we were able to programme them to spell our names in LED lights.

We have also worked with the iPad’s and Spheros . We were able to programme them to move backwards and forwards. They raced across the classroom!

In Writing we have come to the end of our poetry lessons. We worked hard to create poems using rhyme, alliteration and onomatopoeia. The results were fantastic!

We are continuing our IDL topic Human V Robot and we have been learning about the skeleton and the organs of the body. We will be learning more about the functions of certain organs next week. This will help us prepare for writing reports.

Have a wonderful weekend
