I like rainbow writing because I like the colours of the rainbow, it helps me because when I have very pretty writing I remember. Its fun and I like to be creative – IK

So we had to write the alphabet down, we had our words and had to spell it out. We jumped on the letters to make our words. I liked it because I like to jump and it helps me remember my words – AW

We used tyres, rocks, tree sticks and we had to make our hard spelling words because it helped us remember – CK

Building our toys

We had to wait over night for the glue to dry and then we could glue things on again the next day – RS

We used pompoms and lots of recycled rubbish to help our environment – GC

We are using different colours of paint and plastic bottles, we are making a bunny – NM

Science – germs and disease

In Primary 3 we were very lucky to have a STEM leader do some activities with us.

We were learning about symptoms of common diseases, and how disease can spread.

Here we used a UV cream as ‘germs’ which was invisible to our eyes. When we didn’t wash our hands you could see it under the light.  After we washed our hands nothing was there! This taught us how easily bacteria can spread if we don’t wash our hands.

 

 

We used a spray bottle with coloured water to replicate how far a sneeze can travel.

 

 

We had to match the disease to the symptoms, then played doctors where somebody was the patient and had to tell us the symptoms, after that we guessed the disease they had.

Here is another activity to show how soap and water can repel ‘germs’!

Toys design challenge

We used lots of devices to make our toy design.

We learned to log in, and use chrome canvas and paint.

We wrote why our toy was suitable for the task Miss Asif gave to our group.

 

This peer feedback was used to create a final, improved design.

All our families

We looked at lion pride, and what different family members do to help and care for each other.

We discussed how our family members help us:

  • My cousins come and play and laugh with me – HR
  • My mum and dad make me dinner – EwH
  • My mum drives me to places – KG
  • My Gran picks me up from school -CS

We also talked about what we do to help our family members:

  • I help my sister to stir things when we’re baking because she is small and cant do it by herself – GC
  • I help my brother and cousin with their homework – AC
  • I help with the dishes -AA

Toy design challenge

As a class we have been decoding the learning intention so we know exactly what we are learning.

We have been watching a show called Bamzooki where children design virtual creatures to complete specific challenges.

We have been put into groups and given a challenge, we will design our own ‘zook’ toy then create a model of it!

The challenges are knocking down as many sticks in 30 seconds, hurdles and a strength challenge.

We sorted animals that have features suitable for the task into each group. This will help give us design ideas for our zook.

We are using Chromebooks to draw and design our toys.
