Haunted House

This week we were writing about a haunted house story setting. In order to prepare us for this we closed our eyes and listened to some haunted sounds and imagined what a haunted house would look like.

We brainstormed how a haunted house would feel, smell, feel and look like.

Then we made pictures and drew features of a haunted house.

Courage

As part of our BounceBack programme we have been looking at courage.

We ranked these words on the fear ladder, and discussed what they all mean.

We understand that different people have different fears, and that these can change over time.

We talked about things we used to be scared of, now we’re not!

Rounding and Estimating Calculations

We had to roll the dice, and move our animal, whatever number we landed on we had to round it.

Hopscotch rounding! When you hopped on a number you had to say it rounded to the nearest 10.

Guess my number! You had to give your partner clues to guess your number. We had grids from 0 up to 1000. For example: My number when rounded is 150. It is an odd number. It is greater than 148.

Some of us explored word problems. We had to find the calculation, round the numbers, and give an estimated answer
We use our resources in the room to support our learning and show our understanding.
