Our Community Sense Walk

We have been exploring our local area in class by looking at maps and images. With the help of some parent helpers we went out to explore our local area and used our five senses to help us identify what made our area so special.
At the end of our walk we visited Capelrig House. We looked at pictures online and learned about its history and we were all impressed with how it still looks almost the same as when it was built.
As part of our lessons on our senses we worked in groups to try to identify different objects from around the room without looking at them. It was great to see such teamwork and communication to help us each other identify the objects.

Learning about capacity and volume

In class we were learning all about volume and capacity. In groups we explored different objects in the classroom and arranged them in different orders.
We took our learning outside and investigated transferring water to different containers and compared the amount they hold.
We needed to make estimates and then compared our answers.
