Friday 20th September

In maths we were looking at measure. We used our feet to measure different things around the classroom. We made estimates which we learned is like an educated guess! Once we checked our answers they were all different because our feet are different sizes!

We were learning about different things you find in the ocean. We were sad to find out there is lots of rubbish in the ocean, including shoes, plastic bottles and old trucks! We learned that all around the UK this week there are ocean clean ups taking place. Maybe the next time we go to a beach we can help our grown ups clean up.

When the sun came out on Wednesday we decided to take our maths outside and created hopscotch and number games to play in the sunshine!

On Thursday we also learned about submarines that go in the ocean. Ivy’s mum visited us and helped us make a periscope just like the ones they use on submarines. It was great fun spying on each other from under the tables!

Have a great weekend!

Friday 13th September!

This week we created maths games to play.

Each group were given different objects to create their game from.

Our games needed to focus on the number 10. We could have number bonds to 10 or counting in 10s.

Once we made our own games, we moved around to play each others.

Some of us stayed and taught the other people how to play our game.

Today we also say goodbye to Miss Anderson. She has been with us for four weeks and we have enjoyed working with her. Good luck Miss Anderson.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Friday 6th September

This week we have been exploring all the different sea animals in the ocean. We were measuring them using non-conventional units of measure including our hands! Next time we may even use our feet!

We created art work using white crayons and water paint. When we return next week we should be able to hang them up.

In our areas we discussed how we can make them Under the Sea themed. We had a lot of great ideas and Mrs Norman will help us find the materials to create them.

In our writing we looked at the season of Autumn. We wrote fantastic descriptions using our senses.

Have a wonderful sunny weekend!
