Week Beginning 3rd February

This week some of us have  have been learning how to round to the nearest ten. We played games in groups and on the iPads to practise.
Some of us have been giving missing number calculations a go. We used numicon to help us work out the answers. Here we are on a “missing number calculation” treasure hunt.

In class we have been talking about what makes us unique. In French this week, we learned how to describe our appearance in French. We have played a P2b version of ‘Guess Who?’ – where we describe someone from our own class!

We learned about the Scottish artist Stephen Brown and did our own ‘McCoo’ pictures! We are looking forward to teaching our adults at the open afternoons this week.

Week Beginning 27th January

We learned about Charles Rennie Mackintosh this afternoon and we all did our own version of a Mackintosh rose. We spoke about the visual elements of line, shape and colour. We tried leaning harder with our coloured pencil to make a darker colour and lighter to make it light!

Week Beginning 6th January

We have all enjoyed settling back into school this week!

Today we have been learning about the word unique.  Unique means different.

We spoke about how each person is unique.  We all talked about how we look different.  We read a book called, “We’re Different, We’re the Same” which said that although we look different, our bodies do the same things.

The book said that a rainbow would be boring if it was only green or blue, what makes a rainbow beautiful is that it has every hue.

Then we made a rainbow of finger prints.  All our finger prints are unique.

This morning we also did some problem solving. Below you can see some of us using some different strategies we discussed to solve a word problem.

Week Beginning 2nd December

The festive spirit in P2 has been in full swing this week! We had lots of fun designing and making some Christmas crafts and have been busy rehearsing for our nativity next week. We said goodbye to Miss Anderson who has been with us for the last 6 weeks and had a fun Christmas themed afternoon to say thank you for all the fun we’ve had with her.

Week Beginning 11th November

We have been working on our measuring skills this week by learning how to use a ruler.

Today we were set a jigsaw puzzle challenge. Whilst we were working, Miss Anderson was checking to see how we were working as a team – but we didn’t know that!! When we had had a good go, we talked about things that make a good team, like sharing, taking turns and speaking in a calm voice. We are going to refer to the things we said every time we work in groups.

Week Beginning 4th November

This week we created fireworks pictures!

We also read a story called ‘Finn’s Little Fibs’.

We spoke about what makes us tell a fib, and how we feel after it.  We all decided it felt much better to be honest, and if we do tell a fib, we should try and tell the truth as soon as we can as it will make us feel better. Next, we drew pictures of a time when we have told a fib and it how it made us feel.

We have been working on our handwriting this week.  We were practising i and j. They are ladder letters that go down first!

Some of us made play dough this week.  Before we made it, we tried to sequence the instructions in the correct order.  We made a few magic mistakes, but we were able to fix them as we went!
