Week Beginning 24th March

This week we have really enjoyed trying out something new in our class – Daily Numeracy Learning (DNL).

Every day, we work in groups on a numeracy activity before we start our lesson whilst one group works with Mrs McAra/Mrs Grieve on learning a strategy for adding or subtracting.  We rotate the challenges every day and Mrs McAra/Mrs Grieve will work with a different group each day too, so we all get a shot at everything.

At the moment, the activities allow us to practise doubling, completing fact families, place value and number formation.

Week Beginning 17th March

Today we listened to a piece of music together.

We thought about how the music made us feel and what images popped up into our heads when we listened to it.

Afterwards, we left the music playing and we all went back and created a picture inspired by the music we heard. Through this we learned that you can express how you feel through art.

Week Beginning 10th March

Another great week in 2b! This week we had our class treat as we managed to fill our marble jar again. We win marbles when we work well as a team. This term we have earned LOADS for how great our line is moving round the school. Other teachers compliment our line all the time! We chose to go outside and play for our treat this time. We did some chalk drawing, ran around the cycle track and enjoyed the school’s activity trail.

On Thursday, we were visited by a Doctor, an Artist and an Engineer as part of the Meta Moments Day. We really enjoyed hearing from these professionals about the meta skills they use in their job every day.

Week Beginning 3rd March

We had a great time celebrating World Book Day on Thursday.
We did some silent reading in the morning. Then we all spoke about our favourite books and we re-designed the front cover.

Our P5 Reading Buddies also came into our class and read us a story!

Over the past few weeks, during Numeracy and Maths, we have been focusing on missing number calculations. This week we played a subtraction missing number calculation game on the iPads. We were able to choose our own level of challenge.
