29th November

Hello readers,

H&WB

In health and wellbeing this week we began creating a recipe for a good friend. We began with deciding the key ingredients to make a good friend!

PE

In PE we practiced how to pass a ball using throwing and kicking. We worked in pairs to see how fair we could throw the ball to our partners and then how far we could kick the ball.

Maths

In maths we played lots of different maths games and completed fun worksheet! We were adding to 10 and 20, we even challenged ourselves to add 3 numbers together to make 20.

Literacy

We learned about the magic e this week and how this can change words. We also enjoyed our new reading books and spelling words for the week.

French

In French we practiced introducing ourselves to our partners. We also learned how to ask and answer, โ€˜How are you?โ€™.

We have also been super bust practicing our Nativity play, every week we are getting better and better! We love adding lots of dancing and actions to our play.

Our construction area has been super busy with our new engineering challenge to make a ship!

We hope you all had a lovely week and enjoy your weekend, we canโ€™t wait to update you on our learning next week!

22nd November

Welcome back readers,

We have had a great week in primary 2A.

H&WB-

This week we continued talking about what makes a good friend. We played a game of friendship bingo. We had to find a different friend to fill each box.

PE-

In PE this week we practiced different ways to pass a ball. We played lots of team building games where we were challenged to pass the ball without letting it touch the ground.

Literacy-

In literacy this week we celebrated Book Week Scotland, and spoke about our love of reading. We took part in different tasks; we got to take on the role of Charlie Bucket in a hot seat activity, we drew pictures of all the reasons we love to read, we created a poster about why we love reading and we got time to read in the class library.

Maths-

In maths this week we took part in some problem solving. We also continued prancing our mood and even numbers, greater than and less than signs and counting all the way to 100!

Our tuff tray this week was set with an engineering challenge where we had to make a building tall enough for all of the people and strong enough for at least 7 animals… but we could only use what was provided in the tuff tray.

We also enjoyed continuing to practice using our money skills in out in-class shop.

We also spent time this week practicing hard for our upcoming Nativity play, we can’t wait to get on stage.

Have a great weekend readers and wrap up warm. We will be back next week ๐Ÿ™‚

Welcome back everyone, and happy Children in Need!

Literacy

In literacy this week we learned a new sound, we practiced our vowels and we did some writing! We also used our literacy skills in our new engineering topic- we had to write a design brief for a new machine that can clear rubbish from the ocean.

Numeracy

We continued learning about odd and even numbers, money, giving change and greater than and less than signs. We got to use our new home corner shop to practice spending money and getting change.

H&WB

We did some drama this week on showing how to be a good friend and what this looks like. Primary 2 A is full of great friends and we always show friendship which is one of our school values.

IDL- Engineering

We learned about famous engineers this week and spoke about why they are so important, what they had been involved in and how they have shaped the world we live in today.

We were set a challenge of creating a new invention that could be used to remove litter from the ocean. We each designed and labelled a design and then worked in groups to merge of all the designs by using one part of each. After this we drew our final designs and then got to model it using the playdough we made.

Finally, we got to use all of the resources in the classroom to build our final creation! Check them out, we worked so hard.

Thank you for reading our class blog, come back next week to see everything else we get up to.

Blog – 8th November

ย

Hello readers, welcome back to another week in the life of primary 2A.

H&WB

We began the week with health and wellbeing. We continued speaking about people who help us and made posters of someone in our life that can help us.

PE

In PE we had our final week of gymnastics, we performed our routines. We loved showing the class our routines and everything we had been working on.

Literacy

In literacy we worked so hard with our new reading challenging books. We also learned a new sound and all about vowels. We got to play different games to practice our sounds too. We also spoke about some wow words that we could use to describe fireworks.

Maths

In maths we continued practicing our counting, we were counting in 2โ€™s, 5โ€™2, and 10โ€™s. This is helping us use our mental maths for tricky questions. We also practiced sequencing numbers and spotting the missing number in sequences.

We also began to learn about money, we looked at lots of different coins and began adding them together to make different totals.

Art

In art this week we used our printing skills to create fireworks using lollipop sticks and forks. We also used chalk to create fireworks, and straws. We spoke about all the different ways that we could create fireworks using the art skills that we have.

Construction

Finally, Miss Brodie set us a construction challenge to build a treehouse that can hold animals, check them out!

Have a great weekend everyone ๐Ÿ™‚
