Week Beginning 18.9.23

Hi everyone,

This week we explored the muddy woodland! We got all wrapped up had lots of fun exploring the different depths of puddles.

Recently in maths we have been exploring 2D shape with Miss McLemon so we were able to apply our knowledge to the outside world. We started by looking for different 2D shapes by exploring the woodland (we even noticed a 3D cube as a previous class built a den!). We found lots of rectangles from planks of wood, circles from stones and squares from a bench. We then created our own 2D shapes from sticks, leaves and stones. Some of us got creative and figured out a way to create ourselves into 2D shapes!

Hope you all have a lovely long weekend.

Week Beginning 11.9.23

Hi everyone!

On Wednesday, we were learning about how speed works. We created discussions around what speed is and turned ourselves into different things relating to speed (EG: sloths, motorbikes).  We then had to work in groups to design either a fast or slow car. Pupils had to draw their plans first before creating their car with different resources and tools to help it either go fast or slow. We had lots of very creative ideas such as putting lots of things on the car to slow it down, placing rubber bands on the wheels to slow it down and using ramps to make it go faster!

Today was also ‘The Dot’ day, which is a book about building confidence and celebrating ourselves by Peter H Reynolds. Today we read the book and was inspired by Vashti’s dot and confidence, we decided to create our own dot which related to why we were unique and confident individuals.

Thanks again for a lovely week Primary 2a!
