Hi everyone,

What a week! First of all, I want to say a massive well done to Primary 2A performing their nativity ‘Everyone Loves a Baby’. They all did amazing and I couldn’t be prouder of them all. So much effort was put in by the children to learn their songs, lines and when they should be on stage. They gave a fantastic performance!

We all had so much fun on the day. Take a look at us all ready on the bus heading to the Church!

This week we have started some Christmas/holiday activities! One of our tasks this week was to apply our learning of patterns to design a Christmas present! The children really enjoyed using their imagination to create their own unique patterns. They are now hung proudly on our wall to make the classroom feel more Christmassy 🙂

Also, thank you to all parents for the very generous Christmas gift. It was far too kind and the children were most impressed handing it over 🙂

Hi everyone!

It’s December! We have been working so hard on our nativity this week. I am SO impressed with how well the children know their lines, very good job! We are all becoming great actors and are so excited to present “Everybody Loves a Baby” to you all on Thursday!

This week we have been learning about money. We have played different coin identifying games and adding items together to create a total value. We have also begun making signs for our class shop, which we all love. The children are taking their acting roles to the shop and have became great customers and staff. They are getting very good at creating receipts and giving the correct change!

Today we had the present room, where the children were able to pick out a present for someone at home. They all absolutely loved this and were so proud to have something to bring home.

We have had another busy week. This week, we were given our scripts for the nativity. We have been very busy rehearsing our lines, songs and stage directions. It is lovely to see the children’s confidence growing when singing the songs and we are very excited for the show all coming together once we know our lines J

We have had another busy week! This week we have been rehearsing our songs for the nativity. We are getting on very well and created our own actions for each song. The kids are starting to get really excited about their roles and singing the songs on stage.

In woodland this week we explored the work of Andy Goldsworthy to further develop our nature art. Andy Goldsworthy is a British artist and environmentalist, known for his sculptures and photography.

We took inspiration from his designs using anything we could find on the woodland floor (leaves, branches, stones) to create our own inspired sculptures/floor art!

We had lots of creative ideas such as volcanos (one with lava coming out!), using a rope that was found to create a border, butterflies and we even created our own Nessie!

We have had another lovely week altogether!

This week in maths, we were learning the symbols for greater than, less than and equals to. We discovered that the signs look like crocodiles mouths and that the crocodile always wants to eat the bigger number, so that helped us learn the signs!

We put our learning to the test and had our own crocodiles to use. We created numbers lots of different ways such as uno cards, animals and making models. We then used our crocodiles to determine whether the number was greater than, less than or equals to!

It was also anti-bullying week. We read the book “Kindness is my Super power” and we discussed our different super powers of how we are all great friends. We then created our own superhero explaining what their  kindness super power was!

Another lovely week. This week in woodland we were focussing on what nature entails. We were using our hoops to investigate what we could see on the ground (we had creative thoughts of hanging the hoops on the trees to look through and see what we could examine!).

We then used what we found in our hoops to create nature art. We had great ideas including bird nests, making spirals from leaves and even created a bedroom!

Some of the girls had created a horror play throughout the weeks, so we were lucky enough to witness a live performance on the ‘stage’! It was lovely to see the girls confidence when performing, they did a great job.

Hi everyone!

This we in literacy, we started our new programme Daily Literacy Learning (DLL). This is where the children take part in different literacy activities for 30 minutes 4 days of the week. Some of the activities include sorting letters, common word games and reading.

We have had a lot of fun exploring DLL and the children really enjoy the sessions! The variety of activities keeps them very engaged while building their literacy skills. Take a look at some of us carrying out DLL.

Hi everyone!

It was great to hear that everyone had a lovely holiday. Sounds like a lot of us went on great adventures and did lots of exciting things! It is great to have everyone back.

As it is approaching Halloween, this week we discovered our inner witches and wizards and took on our roles very seriously. We had to create our own witches brew in our mystical, magical forest. All the children did amazing at finding a specific location for their cauldron and were able to explain why they put certain ingredients in their cauldron and what their potion did! We had turning into zombies and vampires, creating the most powerful wand (lots of Harry Potter fans!) and a couple of their potions could do anything in the world! We also had lots of fun finding our wands and casting different spells.

The children had a fantastic time releasing their inner witches and wizards and I am so impressed with their creativity! 🙂

Hello everyone!

This week in science we were continuing to learn about forces and were introduced to the magnetic force.

We created our own hypothesis on which objects would attract and repel to a magnet. Then we experimented whether we were correct in our predictions. The children loved exploring magnetic forces and were able to explain the differences in magnetic fields and why different objects either attract or repel. We also discovered our committee badges are magnetic which created great excitement!

Then we created fishing lines with our magnets once we discovered paper clips attract to a magnet. The children worked very well in groups tying the string to the magnet to create their fishing lines. We all had good fun playing common word fishing with our magnets!

We have had a lovely week. It was maths week! So as a class, we did lots of different things that related maths to real life contexts. Such as, counting how many leaves, trees, rocks, sticks and puddles (mucky mud) in woodland. We also clapped to the beat in different songs and took part in the cha cha slide, which told us what direction to go in.

Ryan – Football pitch you need to kick in a straight/backwards/left/right direction. Look for the goal to see the direction

Carson – I use maths in football to tell your team which way to go, make sure they are in a space to pass to them

Aaron – I use maths in tennis because you count how many hits you do

James – I use maths in dance and freeze to count the beats

Ruraidh – You use maths in the register to count how many people there are

Christopher – I used maths when dancing and clapping to the beat in class

Hugo – I use maths to count how many blocks I need when building. Or people can count bricks when building houses
