What a great first week back we have had in P1. It has been great to get back into our class routines and take part in new learning. We enjoy taking on the challenge of our daily targets and leading our own learning across the classroom areas. We look forward to growing our brains as we learn new concepts and topics throughout the new term.

P1 had an excellant time at our Christmas party. We took part in party games, had a snack and had a special visit from Santa! He even brought us a special gift to take home. What a fantastic and magic afternoon. ☺️

Over December we had a very busy time preparing, practising and rehearsing for our class Nativity. The children loved learning their songs, lines and actions and it was evident on school day their hard work had paid off!  We were so proud of how well they were prepared and loved seeing them shine in their first nativity performance.

Back at the start of November we created fantastic firework pictures using oil pastels. We used various lines and colours to create the look of the firework in the sky. We also discussed the importance of safety during firework night and how we can keep ourselves and others safe.

In primary one we have been learning about the importance of why and how we brush our teeth. We were very lucky that nurse Claire came out to visit us and spoke about good dental habits.  We all listened very well and asked some excellent questions

Preparation for our upcoming nativity performance is underway. The children are working so hard to learn the songs, stage directions and lines for their parts. Today’s rehearsal involved all P1 classes meeting to practise our songs. It was fantastic to hear all the classes singing together and is clear we have a talented bunch at Crookfur! 🙂

On Monday we took a lovely walk to Mearns Library to celebrate Book Week Scotland.

The children listened to some very funny stories and were delighted to receive their Read Write Count bags which they proudly carried back to school.

A big thank you to our parent helpers for supporting us on the trip and to the team at Mearns Library for giving us such a warm and welcoming visit!

Primary 1C had a fantastic time at their first school disco!  They enjoyed dancing with their friends, showing off their best dance moves, and playing fun party games. Everyone had big smiles, and it was a wonderful evening!

Our P6 buddies came to visit our class to help us practise our tricky words. We have been learning lots of new words in class and this was a fun way to practise them. We created flash cards together so we can practise again in a few weeks. ☺️

P1C were kindly visited by Mrs McLean who taught us about recycling and her job at Viridor. We discussed how to correctly sort rubbish and materials into specific coloured bins. We loved hearing about the big machines that help with recycling larger quantities of rubbish and trying on some of the safety equipment from Viridor.
