Book Week Scotland

On Monday we took a lovely walk to Mearns Library to celebrate Book Week Scotland.

The children listened to some very funny stories and were delighted to receive their Read Write Count bags which they proudly carried back to school.

A big thank you to our parent helpers for supporting us on the trip and to the team at Mearns Library for giving us such a warm and welcoming visit!

P1 Disco

Primary 1C had a fantastic time at their first school disco!  They enjoyed dancing with their friends, showing off their best dance moves, and playing fun party games. Everyone had big smiles, and it was a wonderful evening!

P6 buddies visit

Our P6 buddies came to visit our class to help us practise our tricky words. We have been learning lots of new words in class and this was a fun way to practise them. We created flash cards together so we can practise again in a few weeks. ☺️

Learning about recycling ☺️

P1C were kindly visited by Mrs McLean who taught us about recycling and her job at Viridor. We discussed how to correctly sort rubbish and materials into specific coloured bins. We loved hearing about the big machines that help with recycling larger quantities of rubbish and trying on some of the safety equipment from Viridor.

Object Control

Primary 1C have been developing their skill of object control through football activities! ⚽

Mrs Grieve has been teaching us how to keep the ball close to our feet as we move around the space. We practised gentle touches with our feet to dribble, and keep control of the ball.

Well done P1C!

P6 showcase/buddy event

This week P1C were so excited to visit our P6 buddies. P6C were fantastic role models for us and showed us their learning journey all about light and our first learning journey of P6.  P6 created four stations for us to rotate around including a clay symmetry display, shadow puppets, presentation posters that they made with Adobe Express and their jotters too.

Miss McNeil and I are excited to plan more buddy events throughout this year!

Great work P6C and thank you for having us ☺️

Super Tato

P1C have been having lots of fun learning through our story of Super Tato! Our classroom has been filled with exciting, themed activities that help us learn across different areas — from making traps for evil pea in the construction area, weighing veggies, threading evil pea,  counting potatoes in maths and creating our own superhero characters.

Also a big thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to our Pop in and Play session. It was so lovely to share our learning with you and show you all the super things we’ve been doing in class.

The Colour Run

P1C had an amazing time taking part in the Crookfur Primary Colour Run. We loved running around the school with our buddies, getting covered in lots of bright, colourful powder along the way. There were big smiles, lots of laughter, and so many colourful clothes by the end!

P1C explore the woodland

P1C took our measurement learning outdoors to the school woodland! We’ve been learning how to compare length, weight and capacity  using words like longer, shorter, heavier, and lighter.

In the woodland, we searched for natural items like sticks, leaves, trees, and stones. We compared them to things we know — some sticks were longer than our hands, the trees were taller than us and some stones were shorter than our thumbs!

It was a great way to practise using our measurement words while having fun exploring nature. Well done, P1C!

Meeting our French puppet in P1C!

This week in P1C, we had a special visitor – our French puppet Eiffel! We had to use our knowledge of the French language that we have learned so far as Eiffel would only speak to us if we spoke French to him.  We love learning French each week so we had no problem saying hello and telling Eiffel how we felt. Additionally Mrs Grieve and Eiffel, taught us how to sing  the colours of the rainbow in French. We cant wait to see Eiffel again next week!
