We have had another busy week in P1C! We are continuing to work hard on our Nativity and we are so excited that we get to share it with you all very soon!
In Literacy and English, we have been enjoying our new reading books and learning new reading skills such as prediction and sequencing. We also really enjoyed reading our books into the talking tins, this lets us hear ourselves reading and allows us to practice reading clearly and fluently.

We are also continuing to practice all our sounds and have enjoyed various activities to help us. Here we are sorting out all the lower and upper case letters to the correct spot.

In Numeracy and Maths, we learnt all about symmetry and we know that symmetry means that it is same on both sides. We identified lots of symmetrical objects in our class using mirrors and created our own wonderful symmetrical pictures.

This week our story of the week was ‘The Gruffalo’ by Julia Donaldson. We read the story and discussed woodland animals and their habitats. We learnt that there are a lot of animals that live in the woodland and they all live in different types of habitats. We enjoyed a walk around our school grounds to see if we could spot any woodland animal habitats, we found some nests in the trees, some holes that we think mice and rabbits may live in too! We also enjoyed designing a habitat for a woodland animal of our choice.

We have also really enjoyed using the tools at our new woodwork bench, we can’t wait to continue to develop our skills in this area and watch out for our amazing creations.
