P1c are Superheroes!

Another busy week in Primary 1C. Although this has been a short week, it hasn’t stopped the children from having lots of learning adventures!

In Numeracy and Maths this week we have been learning about estimating. We know that when we estimate we are trying our best to make a really good guess. We created our very own estimation station to help us practise this. Everyday, Miss Wallace changes how many marbles are in the jar. We record our estimates on the board and then count the marbles out to see who had the closest guess.

We have been exploring money! We know that we use money to buy things. We had lots of fun exploring all of the different coins.

We continue to consolidate our knowledge of number. We have been counting, estimating and exploring numbers one more and one less.

In Literacy, we have started to explore sounds. We know all about ‘s’ and ‘a’. We created a huge list with all of the words we know that start with those sounds. We had snake, star, snail, sun and lots more! We then had astronaut, apple, ant and amazing!

We continue to write through detailed pictures. We have been having lots of discussions around Autumn and what happens during this season so we decided that Autumn would be our focus for writing.

We have been busy exploring materials this week. We used the story of The Three Little Pigs to explore different materials to find out which one would be the best for their house. We knew that something like brick or concrete would be the best one to use!

For our superhero topic this week, we explored our super senses. We know all about sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing. We explored different stations which helped us to understand each of our senses and how we use them everyday.

In our garden area, we love working together. Here we are working together to fix the chute. We wanted to make sure that no one went on it so we covered it in sand to let everyone know it was out of use.

We love acting out our helicopter stories outside!

We also took a trip to our activity trail. It was so much fun! The children were encouraging one another to have a go at any parts they found tricky, particularly the climbing wall. “You can do it!”, “Don’t worry I will help you”, “Just copy what I am doing” were just some of the encouraging things that the children were saying to help their friends.

Well done P1c for another fantastic week. I am so proud of you all. You have all worked so hard these past few weeks and I hope you have a great September weekend 🙂
