Science Week Fun

This wee was Science week. We started of by learning about what comes first, a chicken or an egg? (Freya D). We watched a cool science video which has lots of cute chicks (Aria). We learned about incubators and made our own (Stanley).

Then  we made our own seed bombs (Amara) as we were learning about how plants grow (Fraser).

We cut up paper and soaked them in water (Beth). This made it mushy so we can make a ball shape and add our flower seeds. (Samarth).

As the theme of this year is Growth, to finish Science week we looked at how we grow (Freya H). We measured ourselves (Mia) and then seen how tall we were with classroom toys and objects (Lillie).

We also looked at why we need Science (Ava).

The rain didn’t stop us! (wb 27/09/21)

This week we have explored three new sounds. We explored the letters ‘m’, ‘d’ and ‘r’.

Despite the rain, we got all wrapped up and ready to make our  perfumes in the garden! So many smells all around us and we voted on our favourite! It smelt minty and fresh. We really enjoyed learning about our sense of Smell!

We also had fun this week in PE. We went outside and we were practising our throwing and catching skills. It was a little more challenging this week because the balls got a little wet, making it harder to catch.

Working hard on our skills in P1C!

We have been busy practicing our writing skills across our curriculum learning. Here we are writing numbers as words.

We are very competitive in our mental maths practice and really love to ‘Beat the Teacher’!

It is good to learn new kinds of exercise and movement, this helps us to focus and build our concentration and co-ordination. We loved having a go at Tai Chi in class.

We have also been working on our fine motor skills by learning some relaxing pre-handwriting exercises. These are important to prepare  physically and cognitively to write for extended periods of time.

We always have time to enjoy the activity trail in this beautiful sunshine!

We Love to Learn in P1c.

Hi everyone,

We have had a lovely week enjoying the beautiful sunshine and working hard at our learning! Take a look at some of the photographs taken during Maths, Language, P.E. and Outdoor learning.  We know how to have fun as we learn in P1c 🙂

From,

Miss Doig and the children.

Happy Easter from P1c!!

We have been extra busy this week as we prepare to finish up for the Easter holidays so we don’t have many pictures to share.

However here we are enjoying the sun in the garden on Tuesday! We love making funny faces in our pictures!

Well done boys and girls. I am so proud of you all and will miss you all lots. You are all superstars and I know you will all come back from the Easter holidays excited to learn with Miss Doig. Have fun and stay safe.

Thank you so much for all of my lovely gifts and cards. It was so thoughtful and kind. I will be sure to enjoy them all over the Easter break.

Miss Wallace xx

Adventures of P1c!

Hello and welcome back to our blog!

In Numeracy and Maths we have been exploring addition and subtraction, word problems, number bonds and symmetry. Each day we continue to build our super number skills.

In Literacy we continue to explore single sounds, phonemes and tricky words.

We love creating a word bank when we learn a new sound!

We love being reading detectives spotting sounds and words in stories and books!

We love to read, write and draw!

Our circle time/art this week was all about things we learned we were able to do during the time that we weren’t at school. We loved sharing with our friends all of the important life skills we had learned such as making our beds, turning on the TV by ourselves and helping to wash the dishes.

During French this week we learned all about colours! We have also been working hard to understand and use French greetings.

We enjoyed some lovely sunny weather out in the garden. We worked together to build an obstacle course!

We also enjoyed doing some painting!

We love the activity trail too!

What a great week boys and girls! I hope you have a super weekend xx

Super Science Week!

Welcome back to our blog! What a fun week we have had in P1c!

In Numeracy and Maths this week we have continued to develop our knowledge of number, money and patterns! We have also worked hard to explore number bonds and addition/subtraction word problems.

In Literacy we continue to explore single sounds, phonemes and common words.  Each day we are getting better and better at showing what we have learned through our writing.

We love working hard to identify tricky words!

We have so much fun playing roll and read!

For Art this week we explored geometric patterns using masking tape and paint. We had lots of fun doing this! We were so excited to rip off the tape once our paintings were dry. We loved showing off our creations to the rest of the class!

For Science Week this week we have been working on building our STEM skills.

To encourage our creativity, problem-solving skills and engineering skills we created models. We had to plan out our design before we started to build it. This generated lots of discussions around different materials.

The trickiest part was ensuring our structure was stable!

We love working together to design and create things!

What a great week boys and girls! Have a super weekend 🙂

Another Amazing Week in P1c!

Welcome back to our blog!

It has been another amazing week in P1c! We are all so happy to be back at school and have settled back in to our routines so well.

We have been reading all about The Colour Monster! We decided to create a feelings station in our classroom. We check in with this every morning and this allows us to have lots of great chats about how we are feeling and why.

Our Art work this week was inspired by the change in weather we have been having. As we head in to Spring we decided to paint some amazing pictures of cherry blossom trees using a technique called pointillism as well as finger painting.

Here we are telling and acting out our helicopter stories! We are so amazing at Drama!

We have been so happy to be reunited with all of our friends, we are having so much fun in all of our classroom areas.

We continue to build on our number skills, particularly addition and subtraction!

This week we have read lots of amazing stories in celebration of World Book Day on Thursday. This allows us to put our reading skills to the tests as we use our knowledge of single sounds, phonemes, storyworld words and common words.

We had lots of fun telling our friends all about our favourite book and our favourite character. We also loved seeing pictures of one another doing some extreme reading! We are so creative!

We also created our own bookmarks!

Well done everyone!

We are back!

Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog.

It has been a very busy week as we have settled back in to our classroom and our daily routines.

We were all so excited to be reunited with our friends! Everyone came in to the class with a huge smile on their face with lots of stories to share with everyone!

We have had such a fun week exploring our classroom areas, playing in the garden and going on the activity trail!

Here are some pictures from our busy first week back 🙂

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Welcome back to our final blog of 2020! It has been a fun-filled, festive week in Primary 1c!

We had so much fun at our Christmas party! We played lots of games, had a delicious snack and showed off lots of cool dance moves! It was so hard for Miss Wallace to choose someone as best dancer because we were all so amazing!

We couldn’t believe it when a special visitor dropped by to deliver presents for us. We were so excited to receive a book for us to enjoy over the Christmas holidays.

We have loved doing lots of Christmas crafts this week.

We created pictures of melted snowmen. We used our imaginations to come up with an interesting reason as to why our snowman would melt. Some ideas were, he was too close to the sun, he was sunbathing and another idea was that he had a hot chocolate to drink!

We made some Christmas cards! Our designs were so creative and festive!

We also made our very own Christmas tree decorations!

Wow we really have been busy!

We hope you enjoyed watching our Nativity performance. If you haven’t seen it yet it is on our Google Classroom for you to enjoy. We had so much fun making it!!

Well done boys and girls. You have all been working so hard during your time in Primary 1 so far. You all make me so proud every day! I can’t wait to see what 2021 has in store for you!

I hope you enjoy a well earned rest during the Christmas holidays. I can’t wait to hear all about your adventures when we return in the new year! I will be missing you all over the holidays!

Thank you so much for all of the lovely Christmas gifts I have received. It was so generous of you all. I am blown away by your generosity. Thank you again!! I am looking forward to enjoying all of them over the Christmas break.

Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year! Have a wonderful holiday xx
