Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🎄🎅

Boys and girls,

Where should I start? I cannot believe we have reached the end of Term  and the end of 2020. You have been absolute superstars from the beginning of Primary One till now.

It has been lovely watching you grow and learn so much. I always call you excited sponges because you soak up all the learning and most importantly you all love to learn! You have been such a delight to teach and I cannot wait to make more memories with you in the New Year.

Thank you very much for my Christmas gifts. It was really very generous of you. The flowers were the biggest and most beautiful bouquet of flowers I have ever received. Miss Amin grew some muscles holding them to her car!

I looked inside the bag and was delighted to see my favourite… CHOCOLATE!

I am so grateful for the gift voucher, I will be buying something super special for my new house or my wedding  so that I can remember you every single day when I look at it!

THE APRON! I am so touched at how personal this apron is and the thought that went into making it, I appreciate it so much and I will be treasuring this forever and ever. It will forever be my favourite baking utensil EVER! I cannot thank you enough for your generosity.

I cannot wait to hear all your stories about your Christmas holidays  once you return back to school in January. If you haven’t already, our Nativity is available to view on our Goggle Classroom! We hope you enjoy it!

I will miss you all! Have a wonderful holiday everyone.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year superstars! ♥️

PS,

Here are some pictures of our fun Christmas activities we have completed throughout the week from the Christmas Party to our Art activities. Enjoy 🥰!

Santa’s Chimney, Symmetry, Welcoming a Baby and Nativity Practise! 🌟

On Monday, we were surprised when we saw Santa’s legs being stuck in the chimney! Every morning, he leaves us a question! Using our knowledge of sounds, we stretch our words out to write a sentence back to him!

We are also writing about Elf on the Shelf too!

We are increasing our fluency of reading short stories by blending our words.

Our Library, is a Christmas theme. We have been exploring different books and using pictures clues to help us read them.

We continue to practise reading sentences which have Story World words!

Christmas time is a perfect time to explore Symmetry!

We know there has to be a line of symmetry in the middle and  both sides have to look the same to be a symmetrical picture!

We used our creativity to make symmetrical patterns and pictures!

We have also been wrapping Christmas presents but not any Christmas presents, they are 3D shapes! We have been investigating their properties and comparing the differences between 2D and 3D shapes.

We were curious about how Babies!

What happens when babies are born?

Why can’t babies eat normal food?

Can babies eat lollipops?

We have been learning and discussing the needs of a baby. We have also learnt the traditions of what happens when a baby is born in Islam and when a baby is both the Jewish faith.

‘In Islam, babies shave their head when they are born.’

‘In Islam, the Dad has to whisper a prayer in babies ears when they are born.’

‘There is a party once a baby is born in Islam’ (Hakeeqa)

In the Jewish faith we know:

‘The church is called Synagogue’.

‘The language they speak is Hebrew’.

‘When a baby is born, the men say a prayer in the church.’

I hope you are all looking forward to our class Nativity. It has been made using the children’s ideas and imagination just like how we make our Helicopter Stories!

We will upload the Nativity by next Thursday on Google classroom! We can’t wait for you to see it!

It is Beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Hello everyone!

Today has been a super exciting day because  it is Dress as you please day! Thank you to everyone who brought in a gift for the present room!

Whilst learning about rhythm and pulse in Music we had fun dancing with one another!

We have also decorated our entire classroom into a CHRISTMAS CLASSROOM!

We had a surprise visitor waiting for us hiding in a box! IT WAS ELF ON THE SHELF!

As a class, we voted on what our favourite name was. Our elf name is Crystal!

We have a new Writing Area. We are using our knowledge of sounds to create lists, recipes, books and cards!

If we wish to post a letter to Santa or our family, we pop it into our Santa Mail box!

We were playing a puzzle! We had to as fast as we can match the sounds with the correct picture.

We are continuing to practise to form sentences using tricky words and the correct punctuation.

Spin the bottle is such a fun game to practise reading words!

We continue to read tricky stories to practise blending and reading words faster.

In Maths, we were super amazing at solving the missing numbers!

We have also been exploring 3D shapes using playdough and concrete materials.

We investigated which 3D shapes could roll!

Then, we were using our imagination to create drawings using 3D shapes.

Everyday, we are practising to learn our number bonds and to count on from the bigger number in tricky calculations.

Everybody be super safe in the cold icy weather! You have had such a busy week as always! Well done!

See you on Monday!xx
