A Short Week full of Lots of Learning!

Hello everyone,

We have reached our first school holiday! Although it has been a short week, we have still been super busy learning!

This week we have began learning our sounds. We have learnt the sound ‘s’ and ‘a’. When we learn a new sound, we identify words that begin with the same sound (alliteration), we practise sorting objects and practise forming the letters correctly.

We made snakes whilst we learnt about the ‘s’ sound!

We are using our hearing skills to splat the correct sound!

This week we have been exploring Money! We know money is exchanged to buy and purchase items. We are sorting the different coins to ensure we can recognise the value of different coins.

In our Roleplay we were buying items! Some items were expensive and some were cheap! Items were 1p and 2p but some were 10p!

We were using coins to make a character! However, we had to tell Miss Amin or our friends what coins we had used.

We continue to practise our subitising skills! Miss Amin will shout out a number and with our fingers we have to show the correct amount as fast as we can.

Although we were only to sequence the numbers to 10, we managed to do it to 20 without any help! We worked together as a team to do this!

We love using Digital Technology to enhance our learning! We used Bee-Bots to explore directions and movements.

We have made a house using elastic bands. The house is made using shapes such as squares and triangles.

For our Topic for Safari Animals, we went on an Animal Hunt! Some animals were high, low and just impossible to find. However, we managed to find them all and persevered!

We discussed how animals use ‘Forces’ whilst they prey on animals or fight because they push and pull! Using Bee-Bots again, we were exploring the movement of push and pull.

We also played with cars and a ramp to explore Forces! Using our measuring skills, we used a pen to measure how far the car had travelled after it had been pushed!

Whilst Outdoors, we used our knowledge of shapes to make an Obstacle Course!

We were also exploring how to travel water from different resources without it spilling!

You would never have thought this was a short week as we have been so busy learning and playing! I hope you all have a wonderful rest Primary 1B, you deserve it for working so hard!

Stay safe and I will see you all next Tuesday,

Love Miss Amin xx

Primary 1B are Super Learners!

Hello,

We have been super busy this week learning across all the different curricular areas. Our first Topic was all about ‘Under The Sea’, but we have now moved on to ‘Safari Animals!’

We have created our home corner into a Zoo. As a team, we made a roof for it!

In our play, we have been building Zoo’s in the construction area to keep the animals safe!

Whilst animals are exploring in the wild they leave their tracks (footprints). We were investigating how animals have different tracks and comparing their differences.

Also within our Topic, we realised that lions are orange and slightly red which resembled Autumn! Whilst Outdoors, we gathered leaves and looked at how the leaves are beginning to change colours and discussed the season of Autumn.

Worms worms worms! We love worms although Miss Amin is a tiny bit scared of them. We created a ‘wormery’!

After, we realised we made quite a bit of mess. Whilst splashing the water down the slope to remove the mud, we noticed that water has a force! We now know that a force is when an object is being pushed or pulled!

The activity trail is a great activity for us to develop our gross motor skills, co-ordination and control!

We are becoming more confident to correctly identify and write our name!

We continue to explore 2D shapes and discuss their properties such as edges and corners.

We made Pizza using Shapes!

We are working on our estimating and measuring skills. We explored a variety of objects and used different items to measure how long they were.

We explored each others heights to determine who is taller and shorter!

Wow, what a busy week of learning it has been! We hope you have enjoyed this weeks blog! See you next week 😀!

Overcoming Challenges as a Team!

Hello everyone,

We cannot wait to show you how we work together as a team to overcome challenges. We carefully assessed whether or not it was safe to go on top of the sheds together.

It was a little tricky figuring out how to reach to the top or how to come back down without falling.

We guided one another and kept our balance to make sure no one fell!

There were so many tyres, pipes and tunnels. However, as a team, we guided one another and made sure it was stable enough for us to balance on when coming down.

We have been exploring Dance! We love being able to be creative and being given the chance to show off our awesome dance moves!

We are continuing to practise our flexibility with numbers! Including counting, finding the missing numbers and sequencing.

We have been super busy making Helicopter Stories. This is when we make up our own story and we have the chance to act it out.

We are Star Writers! We have been completing fine line drawings to tell stories too! We love sharing our stories to one another.

Boys and girls,

Well done for another amazing week in Primary One. You continue to work so hard and I am so proud of you all.

Remember on Monday we have our Outdoor Learning Period 1 and 2, so please remember to bring your waterproof clothing. Also, if you haven’t already, can you please return your ‘Special Book’ back to class. We are beginning to document your learning now in your ‘Special Book’ so it is important that it returns to school.

Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you all on Monday!

Miss Amin xx
