It is Anti Bullying week and the children have been learning about disabilities. P7 led a lesson where the children experienced what it is like to be unable to see and hear. They also tried running wearing ill fitting shoes and helped guide one another around. Back in class there was a lot of discussion about how to help people with disabilities and how to be aware of hidden disabilities.

In Literacy, we have been working on our Common Words and building them in a range of different ways. Our sounds this week were v and oo and here we are “driving Vic’s Van round the Village”

In Maths, we continue to investigate number.

Outdoors, we had Pokemon and Unicorns, a soup kitchen, some experimenting with lifting and dropping sand and a house for a slug.

This week we have been celebrating Scottish Book Week in so many fabulous ways.

If you have not yet done so, please check out our Marvellous Matilda dancing on our Google Classroom. (Mrs Dougall’s daughter Kirsty was assistant choreographer when a local theatre group performed Matilda earlier this year, so we invited her along to teach us one of the dances, she was so impressed with how quickly the children picked up the moves).

We used our reading detective skills to complete a literacy picture hunt.

We wrote about our favourite stories and we have been enjoying our new reading books together in class.

The highlight of our week though, was when our P6 Buddies came to help us read the contents of our Book Bug Bags. So many children in the one room, all focused on reading books!

Apologies for the lack of blog last week, as the previous blog was all about our woodland experience, I thought it would be useful to put up a mini blog today about our learning over the last two weeks.

In Numeracy and Maths we have been working with number, finding the numbers before and after.

We have also been learning about time and the seasons and matching number words with the appropriate digits.

In Literacy we have been enjoying our new reading books, learning our new sounds and working with our Common Words.
