Reporters for the day!

We have been learning about reporting the news! We wrote newspaper reports and then we used what we learned about John Shanks’ death  to create a script for a news report. We enjoyed playing around with green screen app on the iPads to make it look like we were inside the factory in 1895. We also discovered the very first moving picture was created in 1895!

The History of Barrhead: The Shanks Family

We have been learning about influential figures in history who shaped Barrhead. We are researching John Shanks.  Lots of boys and girls have done their own research at home and have been sharing it with the class this week. Thank you so much for all your hard work boys and girls! Lots of children have discovered that their grans, grandpas, great grans and great grandpas worked for Shanks & Co.

Celebrating Wider Achievements

A big congratulations to Tola and Emmie who appeared in the newspaper this week for being responsible citizens and taking part in a fantastic community opportunity set up by Tola’s mum to encourage everyone to read! Look out around Barrhead for a recyclable pouch with a preloved book. Once you have read it hide it again for someone else to find.

Well done and thank you for sharing girls!
