Homework week beginning 16th March 2020
Homework will continue now as usual.
Please encourage your child to;
– read their reading book every evening
– sound out the words from the highlighted column
– learn their highlighted stage ‘tricky’ words
– complete any activity from the homework section on education city (passwords are stuck to the front of homework folders)

Social Studies
We have been learning about our local environment and people who help us in our community.
We have been talking about people who help us in our family’s and drawing amazing family portraits. The boys and girls have presented excellent solo talks on their family, if you have not completed this homework there is still time to bring in a photograph or picture from home!
We have been investigating emergency services and how they can help us. We have watched video clips, played games on the ipads today we wrote a story with a beginning, middle and end about an emergency. All the children created an excellent story about an emergency vehicle coming to the rescue!
Next week the pupils have decided they would like to build a model of an emergency vehicle. We would love your help! If you could send in any recycling such as; any sized boxes and washed out plastic bottles. Thank you!
Bookbug
P1a finished off World Book Week in style with a Bookbug session with Mrs Carwood this morning! We said rhymes, sang songs and read a brilliant story – The Jumblebum! Well done Primary 1!
Homework week beginning 24th February
Over the next two weeks pupils have been issued Talking and Listening homework. Your child has a letter in their bag to explain.
Please encourage your child to complete their usual homework too;

Read Aloud Week
We caught some boys and girls reading aloud in the class to each other this week!
Lots of boys and girls have also brought back their bookmark having read aloud lots of times at home this week! Well done! You have until Monday 2nd March to bring your book mark in for 10 house points!
Homework Week Beginning 17th February
This week homework is as follows;
- Make it Happen: App Competition. This week pupils are asked to design a creative, educational app and enter it into the whole school competition. All entries must be in for Friday, 21st February to be entered. Entities must be completed on the given template.
- Reading book. please encourage your child to read their new reading book every evening.
There will be no Education City homework this week.
Digital Technology: Coding
We have been making animations on the chrome books, we made a class on on the interactive whiteboard too.
We we watched each other’s animations. They were all fabulous!

Scots Language Week
We have been learning Scottish nursery rhymes this week for Scots language week.
We are planning on performing Katie Birdie at assembly next week.
We learned about the Scottish artist Steven Brown and we created pictures of animals in the style of Steven Brown.
We listened to the Gruffalo in Scots, we drew pictures of the Gruffalo and described him using Scots words.
We invited p1b to our Burn’s Supper this afternoon.
We learned about writing invitations and wrote one for our Burn’s Supper.
At our Burn’s supper we listened to a piper and did some Scottish dancing.
We tried some Scottish food, oat cakes and smoked cheese.
We made some Scottish flags and did some Scottish arts and crafts.
Numeracy and Maths
The boys and Layla were fantastic at playing match; recognising the numbers from 0-10 and touch counting to 10 independently! Keep up the fabulous work!
