Scots Language Week

We have been learning Scottish nursery rhymes this week for Scots language week.

We are planning on performing Katie Birdie at assembly next week.

We learned about the Scottish artist Steven Brown and we created pictures of animals in the style of Steven Brown.

We listened to the Gruffalo in Scots, we drew pictures of the Gruffalo and described him using Scots words.

We invited p1b to our Burn’s Supper this afternoon.

We learned about writing invitations and wrote one for our Burn’s Supper.

At our Burn’s supper we listened to a piper and did some Scottish dancing.

We tried some Scottish food, oat cakes and smoked cheese.

We made some Scottish flags and did some Scottish arts and crafts.

Social Studies

MThe boys and girls in Primary 1 enjoyed sharing their experiences of a special event, they brought in lots of special things from a special event  to show and tell to their class. We discussed lots of Christmas experiences as it’s advent.

We decided to plan a special event, our Christmas Party. We created a mind map of all the things we needed.

Today we followed our plan and our event was a hug success!

First we made lots of decorations. Then to begin we had a disco in the gym hall, followed by party games (pass the parcel, musical statues, musical bumps and musical chaired). We had party snacks and popped Christmas crackers! Final we got a special present.
