We had a fabulous last school day in 2021! We had a great time at our class party, playing party games. Thank you to the PSA for party snacks! We even had a visit from Santa and got a Christmas treat. Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing time with your families and I’ll see you all in the new year!
We made advent wreaths. Don’t they look great! Every week we will light a candle on our own wreath (stick on a tissue paper flame 🔥 ).
We also used recycling to make carol singers and bottle top Christmas tree ornaments. The boys and girls are looking forward to bringing them home.
We have been very fortunate to design a new reading corner in our classroom. We are enjoying designing and creating our cosy corner and are now loving reading our books! We have written a persuasive letter to ask Mrs Neil for a new display shelf too. Fingers crossed she agrees it would be a great addition to our new library corner.
We have been learning about magnets in science. Today we used what we have learned to create a maze using magnets.
The boys in red fish have been learning about direction in maths. They are all amazing at following directions now and know their left and right. Today they followed instructions to find items on a pirate’s treasure map.
p3 have been learning about data handling. We have created lots surveys for the class and recorded our findings on a table. We have also created Venn diagrams, bar graphs and today we created a pie chart using google sheets. You could have a go at home!
We have enjoyed a special visit from a historian to tell us about John Shanks and his family. We loved looking through old Shanks & Co. Catalogues and looking at old maps of Barrhead. All the boys and girls were amazing at sharing everything we have learned. Today we were very fortunate to get a visit from a local artist who is helping us use what we’ve learned to create a decorated clay tile inspired by the work of Shanks & Co. The boys and girls can’t wait to bring them home to show their families!
One Fish have been learning about capacity and how to measure the volume using millilitres and litres. Today they estimated the volume of a variety of containers then used a measuring jug to measure using ml.
Congratulations to Reece for receiving two amazing awards and sharing his successes with the class. Congratulations also to Lacy for taking part in her first dancing competition and getting on so well!
