What a super start to 2023 we have had. Primary 1/1 have come back to school ready and excited to learn.

 

In P.E. we have started our block of gymnastics. We have been working on the following skills:

• Balancing.
• Travelling.
• Jumping and landing.
• Rolls.

For our first topic this term we are learning all about People Who Help Us in Barrhead. We have spoken about what community means and discussed different people in our community that help us.

From this we interviewed Mr Cummings, our Janitor, and PC Lorraine our campus cop. We are looking forward to discovering more about people’s jobs in Barrhead.

In Maths we have been working on adding and time.

In Literacy we have been working hard to learn consonant blends and tricky words.

We have been doing some alphabet work and trying to order the alphabet independently.

We have been learning colours in French with Camembear and through the stories The Colour Monster (La couleur des emotions) and The Colours of Elmer (Les couleurs d’Elmer).

Last week we learned all about Chinese New Year and different traditions. We enjoyed using the Chinese writing scroll to write numbers to 10 in Chinese.

In Science we have learned about our senses and are continuing to explore these in the classroom. We put on blindfolds and felt the sandpaper numbers to try to guess what they were!
