China Live Lesson

We have enjoyed our first live linkup lesson with our partner school in China. We shared a video with them about Scotland and we had the opportunity to ask and answer questions to compare our lives. We also demonstrated our Mandarin skills by sharing greetings and information about ourselves. We are looking forward to our next session.

Short Talks

Well done to all ย who have now performed their short talk . What a fabulous effort we have had from Primary 5 this week! The class have prepared really well and entertained us with a whole variety of topics including: the solar system, dogs, football, pigeons, roller coasters and more! It was great to see the confidence of the pupils speaking so clearly to their peers. ย Below is a taster of the action.

Go Wild with Mandarin ๐Ÿผ

This morning we had our first session of Go Wild with Mandarin. This was a live lesson with an expert in Mandarin and animal conservation. ย We were learning about the history of some Chinese characters through games. We had to guess animals by using clues and using our knowledge of characters. We also had to draw Chinese characters and were learning about endangered species such as the pangolin.

Badminton ๐Ÿธ

This week in PE we were practising skills for badminton. Since the shuttlecock can be tricky to control we practised, first of all, with balloons. It was lovely to see all the balloons in the air as we practised using our rackets.

Spanish Artists

This term our artwork has been inspired by Spanish artists. We have been looking closely at the art of Salvador Dali and Antonio Gaudi. Below you can see a selection of our Elephants inspired by Dali and our mosaics inspired by Gaudi.

Red Nose Day Fun

Today we had lots of fun celebrating Red Nose Day whilst raising money for great causes. In the class we had our joke off contest which was just so funny! ๐Ÿ˜†ย  Our class winner was Arlo. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป We also did an anagram challenge and wordsearch for Comic Relief. Later we had fun in the hall trying out some challenges organised by our House Captains. Finally we took part in a class dance.

Police Visit ๐Ÿ‘ฎ

Today we had a visit from our campus cop, P.C. Lorraine, as part of our learning about Crime and Punishment. P.C. Lorraine told us the duties of a police officer and the training involved in becoming a police officer. She also explained about all the specialisms there are in the police force e.g. detective work or working with police dogs. We had lots of questions for P.C. Lorraine which she kindly answered which helped us understand better the role of a police officer.
