September in Primary 1/1🍂

Reminder:

Bring tricky word tubs on a Friday💡.

Muddy Movers

We have been loving exploring outside at Muddy Movers, experimenting with the different toys and equipment and using our team work and communication skills. We are great risk-assessors and know how to keep each other safe when jumping from the crates and using other equipment.

Maths and Technology

We have been learning all about patterns in Maths using shapes, colours, natural resources, letters and numbers. We read the story of Elmer the patchwork elephant and made our own Elmer patterns. In Technology we learned about different materials and used some of these to create a bigger Elmer patchwork. We have enjoyed spotting patterns in our environment.

We have been doing excellent number work creating number lines and making numbers within 10 in different ways.

Literacy

We have learned 12 sounds in total. The class are enjoying doing the songs and actions and using the Promethean Board in class to write the sounds we have learned.

We are enjoying learning our tricky words and trying to spot them in stories we read. The class like to share their likes and dislikes about stories to give their thoughts.

In the construction area, the class have worked well with different materials to make models and use their imagination to build.

The class worked hard to create our class rules and picked some of the UNCRC Rights that we have focused on in our class charter.

I am excited to see what October brings for us🎃👏🏼

Welcome to Primary 1/1⭐️

Some important information:

–Primary 1/1 have P.E. on a Monday. Please ensure you have indoor shoes, shorts and a T-shirt which are labelled with your name and kept in a P.E. bag which can go on their peg. Children will be encouraged to bring PE kits home over holiday periods for a wash.

-Primary 1/1 have Muddy Movers on a Tuesday afternoon. Please provide welly boots that are labelled. If your child has their own waterproofs, please make sure these are also labelled and these can be kept in a plastic bag on their peg. Don’t worry if you don’t have waterproofs we have some in school which children can use.

–Homework: just now Primary 1 children only have phonics homework. Each sound should be written at least 5 times and a picture of an object beginning with the sound should also be drawn on the same page. Please complete this on the day issued and return to school the next day.

-Tricky Words: these are issued on a Friday. Please make sure you have a tub to keep these in and go over these at home.

August in Primary 1🌻!

We have started to learn our first sounds s, a, t, i and p. We have worked hard at learning the songs, actions and how to write our sounds. It is super important to keep practising these each day.

Each day, we have been voting for which book we would like to hear and counting how many votes each of the books have. This is a fair way we can decide which story to have at the end of the day📚.

We have been working hard at learning numbers 0-10 and learning to form our numbers correctly. We have enjoyed listening to the Number Zoo stories and creating some art to go along with these. On our Numeracy wall, we have made our own number line and shown how well we can write our numbers🔢.

We have enjoyed team-working outside at Muddy Movers to stack the crates and move the tires, it’s tiring work! We have been working on our balancing skills and walking along different objects outside. We have also worked well at building things in construction🚧.

Primary 1/1 have enjoyed working with different materials in art and even made some super spiders from clay🎨.

What an exciting start to Primary 1 we have had👏🏼💡!
