October 2020

During October we have been very busy working on number, shape, colour and patterns.

We have enjoyed designing and building using the Kapla bricks.

Every Thursday we have lots of fun working together outside during Muddy Movers. Remember to bring dry socks on a Thursday to change into for going home.

Finally we celebrated Halloween with some fun activities 🎃 👻

Maths Week

During Maths week we enjoyed lots of different numeracy experiences.

We learned to estimate. We started in the classroom estimating how many items were in the hoop, then counted them accurately. After that we went outside to estimate lots of different objects around the playground. We recorded our estimates on a table of information.

We also learned about number lines and we were able to build stair case number lines. We had to accurately count out the corresponding number of items.

We also went outside to create our own stair case number lines.

Finally we had lots of fun creating our own Numicon monster!

🧮Numeracy and Mathematics 🧮

Over the last few weeks we have explored pattern, numbers to 20 and Identifying 2D Shapes.

We have been very busy.

Some of our targets are called Funky Fingers, this helps us work on our fine motor skills. Building up the muscles 💪 to be excellent writers. Keep posted for some more Fun Funky Fingers tasks.

📖Tricky Words📖

On a Friday we learn our  Trick Words. This involves working on our sight vocabulary and trying to remember the words as we can’t blend the sounds. This is why they are tricky words!  So far we have covered the words I, the, he, she, me, we, be, was, are and all. Next Friday we will learn to and do.
We try to learn the words by making them, saying them and writing them.

Please remember to bring in your tricky words tub on a Friday so we can put in your new words.

Story Telling

We have been learning about story telling. We understand the terms character and setting. We have been drawing our stories and then telling them to an adult who wrote it down for us. We hope you enjoy some of our stories. 👏🖊📚

Fairness Achievement

Well done to Orlaigh and Cameron who were awarded with ‘Fairness Achievements’ this month.
They have demonstrated kindness and fairness within the classroom and playground since starting Primary 1.
Well done 👏👍🌟

Muddy Movers

I am sure you will have heard how much fun we are having during our Thursday Muddy Mover sessions 🌳🌿🍁☀️💦

The children are independently getting waterproofs and wellie boots on before each session and trying hard to hang up their own waterproofs and wellies afterwards.

They have been using crates and tyres to build obstacle courses, exploring the rain water that gathers in our playground, having fun digging in the mud, finding lots of mimi beasts and exploring lots of different resources.

Please could all children bring a spare pair of dry socks to change into after Muddy Movers on a Thursday. Children are also welcome to bring in their own waterproofs.
