It was wonderful to welcome so many visitors to our classroom to share our learning and help us with our science experiment on The Water Cycle.

We have been learning about chemical and physical reactions. We know a physical reaction is reversible (this means you can change it back), A chemical reaction is irreversible (this means that you can’t change it back).
We have completed a number of experiments to investigate the effects of mixing different chemicals.
If there is a chemical reaction we know one of the following will happen: changing colour, temperature, fizzing showing a gas has been released and a smell been given off.

We made bath bombs.

We made lava lamps .

In Science, we have been learning about the properties of light and how it can be used in a creative ways.
We explored opaque, translucent and transparent materials and completed experiments with torches to see how light is reflected and refracted in different ways.
We explored how shadows can shrink and grow depending where the light source is placed.
Finally we made our own shadow puppets and performed our show to the class.

Shadow Puppet Show

Primary 6 enjoyed learning all about the 1960s as we celebrated our school’s birthday this month. We watched a family go back in time and learnt all about how the 1960s was a huge time of change. It was good to listen to lots of different music from the 1960s and we also learnt a new dance.

P6/2 had a brilliant day helping fundraise for Children in Need. We took part in some sports activities in the gym hall and also bought some toys and books from the Bring and Buy Sale. The best part was getting to wear our pyjamas all day at school!

We have been learning about size, scale and motion in Space.
First we compared the sizes of the planets using fruits. Then we learned about the order the planets are away from the sun which affects the planets temperature and features.

Next we learned about the phases of the moon and compared gravity. We did a moon jump experiment to see how far we would jump on the moon.

As part of Social Studies we have been learning about the Vikings. In Art we explored some of the patterns they used in their artwork such as crosses, knots and lines. We designed our own Viking jewellery and carved our designs into clay to create a pendent or bracelet.

We used wool to weave or pleat our bracelet and necklaces. We worked well to help others.
