Fun Day! โ˜€๏ธ

Today we had such a fun day!
We came to school dressed as pirates, princesses and superheroโ€™s ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ ๐Ÿ‘ธ ๐Ÿ‘‘ ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™‚๏ธ

We spent the first part of the morning outside playing lots of fun games. Including hook-a-duck๐Ÿฆ†, toss the beanbag in the bucket, hit the target ๐ŸŽฏ, knock down the cups to name a few!

After playtime we enjoyed making crowns, masks and keyrings.

After lunch we participated in lots of fun sporting activities run by Primary 7.

The perfect ending to a perfect day was enjoying our ice creams ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ˜

April 2021

I have had such a wonderful first week back with all the children. I have missed them lots but now looking forward to lots of learning together.

This week we have been learning about pictograms. Each child answered the daily question by drawing their answer and adding it to the graph. ย We discussed which answer was most and least popular and were able to create questions to ask friends.

This week in Numeracy we have also been working on number bonds, subtraction and numbers to 20.

In Literacy, the children have been showing off their fabulous phonics knowledge. They have been able to sound out words when writing, blending to read new and unfamiliar words and reading with increased fluency. Itโ€™s wonderful to hear them give everything a go. Here are some lovely photos that the children have taken themselves.

We have also been learning to cross the road safely. We have learned a lovely song that hopefully your child will be able to sing for you. Have a look at our writing about Road Safety. ย The children had a checklist to refer to while working. Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ll agree these are amazing pieces of work ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ

We also stared a road painting this week, look out for our finished art work coming soon!

As always there is a daily opportunity to build and construct. Here are some of the models the children were proud of and photographed by themselves.

On Thursday we had lots of fun outside at Muddy Movers. Struan was our class photographer and captured lots of the action. If you look closely youโ€™ll see our budding photographer in a reflection in the teapot! ๐Ÿ“ธ

November 2020

Thank you all for supporting the Primary 6 classes by buying poppies to raise money for the poppy appeal. We enjoyed learning about Remembrance Day and showing our respects.

Earlier this month we went on a welly walk looking for signs of autumn. After our walk we wrote down what signs we found.

ย

Thursday Muddy Movers continues to be a highlight of our week. We have been working on our balancing and building obstacle courses to complete. Please do send in extra sock for children to change into after ๐Ÿงฆ

In Maths we have been working hard on our numbers. We have been counting forwards and backwards to 20, identifying missing numbers from a sequence, calculating what one and two more or less equals, learning to read number words up to ten, estimating quantities, counting accurately and much more. Please ask your children to show off their new skills to you at home. We also set up an outdoor numeracy den to complete one of our targets in.

ย

We have also been learning our days of the week, months of the year, seasons and discussing how we spend 24 hours in a day. Take a look at some of our daily routines.

Finally, we are enjoying taking photos by ourselves of things we are proud of in class. Have a look at our achievements ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ‘

We are now looking forward to a busy December. Please look out for our winter window surprises on the 1st of December โ„๏ธ

October 2020

During October we have been very busy working on number, shape, colour and patterns.

ย

We have enjoyed designing and building using the Kapla bricks.

Every Thursday we have lots of fun working together outside during Muddy Movers. Remember to bring dry socks on a Thursday to change into for going home.

Finally we celebrated Halloween with some fun activities ๐ŸŽƒ ๐Ÿ‘ป

Maths Week

During Maths week we enjoyed lots of different numeracy experiences.

We learned to estimate. We started in the classroom estimating how many items were in the hoop, then counted them accurately. After that we went outside to estimate lots of different objects around the playground. We recorded our estimates on a table of information.

ย

We also learned about number lines and we were able to build stair case number lines. We had to accurately count out the corresponding number of items.

We also went outside to create our own stair case number lines.

Finally we had lots of fun creating our own Numicon monster!

Story Telling

We have been learning about story telling. We understand the terms character and setting. We have been drawing our stories and then telling them to an adult who wrote it down for us. We hope you enjoy some of our stories. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ–Š๐Ÿ“š

NHS Spitfire flyover

Yesterday we were lucky enough to see the NHS Spitfire flyover Barrhead. We were all so excited to see it, give it a big wave, cheer and shout our thanks ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ‘

Fairness Achievement

Well done to Orlaigh and Cameron who were awarded with โ€˜Fairness Achievementsโ€™ this month.
They have demonstrated kindness and fairness within the classroom and playground since starting Primary 1.
Well done ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒŸ

Muddy Movers

I am sure you will have heard how much fun we are having during our Thursday Muddy Mover sessions ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿโ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฆ

The children are independently getting waterproofs and wellie boots on before each session and trying hard to hang up their own waterproofs and wellies afterwards.

They have been using crates and tyres to build obstacle courses, exploring the rain water that gathers in our playground, having fun digging in the mud, finding lots of mimi beasts and exploring lots of different resources.

Please could all children bring a spare pair of dry socks to change into after Muddy Movers on a Thursday. Children are also welcome to bring in their own waterproofs.
