Children in Need 2021 ❤️

We had a brilliant day today!
We took part in the Joe Wicks Pudsey workout and the P7 active stations in the gym hall. Then we spent our pocket money at the toy and book sale. We finished the day with a wonderful talent show!  Thank you to everyone for sending in donations towards this great charity.   Well done, Primary 3!

RME

Primary 3/1 we have been learning about the Parables of Jesus as part of our RME topic.

We listened to and discussed the story of the two builders – the wise man and the foolish man.  We talked about the message of the story and how we should always work hard in everything that we do.

We used different building materials and tried to build a house on cushions to be like the foolish man who took the easy way out.  We then built a house on solid foundations – it was more difficult to knock down.  We decided we would rather be like the wise man!  We also designed our own dream homes.

November in Primary 3/1 🧨🎆🎇

We have been very busy in P3!

HEALTHY EATING

We had a tasty time when we made fruit kebabs.  We had to think very carefully about hand hygiene and the importance of making good choices when eating snacks.  They tasted lovely!

REMEMBER, REMEMBER THE 5th of NOVEMBER!

We learned about the importance of bonfire and firework safety and had some great discussions about what to do in an emergency.  We then created wonderful firework pictures.

MEASURING IN MATHS

We have been learning about grams and kilograms and had lots of fun comparing the weight of objects.

Maths Week Scotland 2021

We’ve had a brilliant week thinking about how important maths is.  We use maths all the time! We decided to take our learning outdoors and used our environment for symmetry and data handling challenges.  We had lots of fun and we talked all the time about what we were doing and what we discovered!

We worked on symmetry back in the classroom too 🙂

Venn Diagrams and Carroll Diagrams – great understanding and excellent teamwork!

Fractions – Can you cut a wrap into 2 equal parts to make halves?  Can you make quarters?  How many parts will you have?  So many questions during our fractions activity.  The wraps tasted great with jam and honey.  A lovely, wee treat after working so hard!

Length – Our challenge was to create an item which measured exactly 50cm.  This was great fun and quite challenging!  Three groups managed to make their items measure exactly 50cm 🙂

What a great week!

Primary 3 Science

We have been having great fun learning about Space this term.

We learned about the planets, the sun and the moon.  We have discussed why we have different seasons on earth.  We made models to demonstrate that the earth spins around the sun and the moon orbits the earth.  We also investigated how the moon reflects the suns light using a torch as the sunlight.   We have decided that we want to learn about astronauts and the international space station next.  Have a look at our learning so far!

September in Primary 3/1

Hello Everyone 😊

We have all really enjoyed lots of great activities since coming back to school  in August!

We have been very busy thinking about the rights of children and then we went on to create our own class charter based on what was important to us.  It looks fantastic!

We have also been studying the artist, Steven Brown.  We created our own animal pictures using paint and pastel.  We thought about line, colour and texture and had lots of fun making them.

We created a jigsaw on our wall.  This was to show how unique we all are.  This is now a word we use all the time!  It has been lovely to celebrate all our individual strengths and qualities.

WE ARE PRIMARY 3, EACH ONE OF US UNIQUE AND WHEN WE GET TOGETHER, THE PUZZLE IS COMPLETE!

In Literacy, we have been learning about common nouns and proper nouns.

We can’t wait for some more fun learning in October!

Farewell Primary 2

Primary 2 had another good year at Cross Arthurlie and despite a period of learning from home, they’ve shown resilience and confidence by bouncing back.  We look forward to seeing everyone back for Primary 3.

Here is some lovely pictures if our last week of fun.

Sports Day

We had so much fun at sports day, we all got to take part in different activities and win lots of points for our house teams.

We missed having the parents come to watch but we still had lots of big smiles and activities to enjoy.

“It was the best day”
“Thank you to everyone who helped”
