The Thales site at Linthouse in Glasgow was opened in 1992 and is the design and manufacturing centre of excellence within the UK for advanced optronic night vision equipment and systems.

These include infrared cameras, laser rangefinders, aircraft warning and reconnaissance systems, amoured vehicle sights and naval surveillance systems.

4 Year Programme of Development

Engineering

· Create Circuit Diagrams

· Create CAD library models

· Design of Development and Production PCB’s

· Implement changes to existing designs

· Support Electronics & Mechanical Designers

· Application of theory to practical problems

· Design to suit working environments and

safety guidelines

OUTLINE OF TRAINING

Year 1

· Foundation core skills training

· Start of Further Education Course

· On the job training

Years 2, 3 & 4

· Continuation of core skills development

Education throughout Apprenticeship

HNC/HNC Electronics

Modern Apprenticeship Framework

Qualification Requirements

• A minimum of 2 Highers, band A – C,

including Maths, Physics (English &

Technological Studies preferred)

· Advanced key skills training

· Learn key engineering processes

· Strategic placements within the company

· Supplier visits to enhance knowledge

· IPC Designer Certification Program

· Completion of Further Education

· Completion of Modern Apprenticeship

Candidate Requirements

You will demonstrate a real enthusiasm for Engineering, including motivation to learn the key practical skills required to work within a professional engineering environment.

You must also be determined and willing to commit to successfully completing Further Education Courses

You will show supportive qualities when working in a team environment.
