What are we looking for?
We are recruiting for four Modern Apprentice (MA) Biomedical Support Workers (Medical Laboratory Assistants) to join our Laboratory Medicine teams .
What qualifications do I need to apply?
At the time of submitting your application you must already hold a minimum of two Highers (or SCQF equivalent) at grade A to C in Biology and Chemistry and a National 5 (or SCQF equivalent) grade A to C in Maths.
This is an entry level position suitable for a young person with an interest in Laboratory Sciences.
What departments will I be working for?
The MA posts are rotational and you will spend time in each of our labs located across two hospital sites; Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow City South and the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Glasgow City East.
You will rotate across four laboratory disciplines and will receive training to support the following specialist areas;
- Biochemistry
- Haematology
- Microbiology
- Pathology
Is there an age limit?
These vacancies are aligned to the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Modern Apprenticeship Programme and therefore only open to those applicants aged 16 to 24 years (or 16 to 29 years for Disabled Applicants or applicants who are Care Experienced*), in line with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Widening Access to Employment Strategy and workforce projections.
