The Higher Apprenticeship Programme has been established to develop and grow our own talent to make sure we have the right skills to look after our networks both now and in the future. This is a permanent position from day one, provided you successfully complete the two year programme.

Advanced Apprenticeship The National Grid Advanced Apprenticeship is an award winning programme which mixes both college studies and on the job training with a paid starting salary of £15,490. After successful completion of the programme the Advanced Apprentices not only will hold an industry recognised qualification but will have gained valuable experience to prepare them for their future career within National Grid. The minimum entry requirement for this programme is 5 GCSEs (grade C or above) which must include Maths and English Language. We can also accept qualifications equivalent to this.
Engineer Training Programme This programme is a great alternative to University as students will study towards a fully funded Foundation degree at the same time as gaining valuable on the job training. Not only will they avoid the cost of University, they will earn while they learn with a starting salary of £23,500 and take up a permanent role on completion of the programme. The minimum entry requirement for this programme is 2 A2 / A levels grade C or above – one of which must be in Maths, Physics or Engineering. We can also accept qualifications equivalent to this.
