Scottish Leather Group Apprentice Academy are offering 6 places on a four year modern apprenticeship programme in engineering and maintenance. All you need is a good understanding of maths, technical skills and the right attitude! We need individuals who can clearly demonstrate a CAN DO, WILL DO attitude. An attitude that means you will: strive to do better today than you did yesterday; have the passion and desire to learn; contribute to the business by being energetic, proactive and delivering excellent performance all day, every day. What’s on offer?

A four year placement on a unique programme giving you the opportunity to gain experience and expertise across several areas of our business including:

  • Maintenance Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Design & Automation
  • Process Optimisation

How do we do this?

You would be part of a programme that allows you to work across different companies that make up Scottish Leather Group at our sites based in Paisley, Bridge of Weir and Glasgow. You will gain practical “on the job” training that allows you to develop “hands-on” experience and gives you transferable skills. In your first year you will achieve an SVQ Level 2 in maintenance engineering and also be studying towards achieving an HNC/D in your offered discipline. This is an excellent opportunity that could lead to a long term career with the Group.

What we are looking for…

  • National 5 or equivalent e.g Credit Standard Grade in maths and physics or other technical skills ( or if you are sitting your exams – likely to achieve these grades – NB. Offer subject to achievement of qualifications required
  • A positive ’can do will do’ attitude towards working, learning and taking instruction
  • A desire to learn – you will need to be a quick learner who understands the value of teamwork and wants to work towards achieving shared goals
  • A problem solving mentality – you will be an individual who focuses on solutions and not problems
  • Driven and determined individuals who strive to deliver excellence consistently
  • Passion to be the best! – delivering and surpassing Scottish Leather Group’s high standards and deliver in accordance with company brand and vision
  • Tenacity and resilience – when the going gets tough you get tougher!
