Primary 1 enjoyed lots of goodies at the Fair Trade breakfast last week.
Morning Zones
This morning, we made towers using the bricks in our zone time. We worked together and solved problems by sharing ideas.
Visit to Busby Library
Primary 1a thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Busby Library. Sadly we had to miss our second scheduled visit, but I’m sure everyone was having lots of fun playing in the snow instead! We will be visiting again on Friday 16th March to hear more stories and choose more books.
We especially enjoyed acting out the poems that Peter read to us. Can you guess what actions we were doing?!
What we got up to: February 2018
The boys and girls of Primary 1a have been very busy in the last few weeks. Here is a selection of photos showing some of the things that we have been doing, in the classroom and outdoors. We have been writers, artists, architects, inventors, problem-solvers and mathematicians.
How to help with practising phonics
Some parents had asked how to help their child practise their sounds if they do not have their Snake Books at home.
Please click on the link below to find a PowerPoint which will help you practise with your child.
Christmas activities in p1
P1 have been very busy this week preparing for Christmas! They have been wrapping presents, decorating our tree and making their own gift tags, cards and crafts. Everyone has been practising their scissor skills and fine motor skills to get the presents neatly wrapped!
Outdoor learning
Last week p1a went out to the field for some outdoor learning. It was cold and muddy so we had to wear our wellies and a warm jumper under our waterproof suits. Some of us also brought hats which was very sensible! We enjoyed exploring all the outdoor resources and we are looking forward to going out again this Friday. Fingers crossed it doesn’t rain!
Stranger Danger
Primary 1 have been learning all about Stranger Danger today.
We had a visit from a Police Officer who spoke to us all about how to stay safe. We learnt never to go with strangers and we practised what we would do if we were ever in that situation – Run, Yell and Tell! We talked about people we could trust to tell. Our ideas included mums and dads, police officers, firefighters and our teachers.
The photos below show us practising our Running, Yelling and Telling. We were very loud!
Assembly rehearsals are underway!
We have been very busy this week rehearsing for our assembly. Everyone has worked very hard to learn their lines and we have some fantastic songs to perform. We had our dress rehearsal today and everyone looked great in their costumes and headbands. We are very excited to share our assembly with parents, family and other classes tomorrow morning.
Halloween
The boys and girls in P1a and P1b have been really busy this week exploring our Halloween Investigation Station! We have been hunting for spiders in the jelly, using Halloween pasta to make patterns, using spooky cutters to mould playdoh and having-a-go at writing using our Halloween word mat.
Have a look at the pictures below to see what else we’ve been up to!
