A Fair Test

On Monday we took part in a Fair Test. A fair test is when you carry out an experiment and you keep all the parts of the test the same apart from one thing. You carry out the test 3 times to see that it wasn’t just by chance that the outcome happened, that the outcome is consist with the change you made.

Here are some pictures of us carrying out the experiment….

World Book Day

It was so lovely to see so many people dressed up today for world book day! The costumes were amazing!

We held our own book day activities by taking part in a book quiz! Winners to be announced tomorrow morning…..!!!

Designing our glasses

This morning the girls continued their work with the design department from Williamwood. Today there were designing pro types of glasses which they would like to be made into the real thing. The girls showed off their artistic flair and it will be exciting to see what 4 designs will be chosen to be made at Williamwood alongside other designs from Netherlee and Carolside.

Show Racism the Red Card

This afternoon we were lucky enough to have a visit from the people at Show Racism the red Card. We were learning all about refugees, who they are, what atrocities they face, why they are refugees and how many refugees there are in the world….far too many.

Everyone was inspired by the stories that they heard and I think everyone has come away with a different perspective on refugees and how we all can ensure they are included in society.

Well done Jodie!

Well done Jodie on her fantastic achievement at her dancing. She recently sat her dance exams and she was awarded all these levels! Keep up the great moves Jodie!!!

Debate time

For homework last week we were tasked with deciding if we were for or against animal testing. There was no sitting on the fence, we had to decide what side we were on and research facts that backed up our argument.

In preparation for the Lord Provost Debate next week, we held our first debate on the motion today. There was many excellent points made by both sides and lots of passion in the room!

Williamwood STEM project

Today the P7 girls took part in the first of three lessons taught by the design and manufacturing department from Williamwood. We were learning all about the properties of plastic and why plastic is a common product to manufacture items with. Alongside all it’s good qualities, we also learned about the negative implications of plastic.

We were then tasked with designing our own glasses….watch this space for the final designs!

Here we are using our measuring skills to construct an accurate size of our frame.
