Homework this week is as follows…

Reading

Human Body Adventures – Whole book by Friday

Jane Blond – Whole Book – Whole book by Friday

Vanishing Cream – Whole book by Friday

Animals to the Rescue – Whole book by Friday

 

Spelling

Do two tasks from the active spelling grid. How you provide evidence is up to you. You can do it on blank paper or record the activity in another way – good examples will go on the children’s wall.  A signature will be fine to show your child has completed work.

 

Maths

We will continue our focus on tables and quick number bond recall through homework.

Circles – At least 2 multiplication squares – all tables. 10 mins time limit.

Triangles – At least 2 multiplication squares – try all tables. 10 mins time limit.

Squares and Rectangles – Minimum 2 addition squares. Try to get as many done as possible within the ten minute limit.

Spelling 

1 task of your choice from the active spelling grid. How you provide evidence is up to you – good examples will go on the children’s wall.  A signature will suffice though.

 

Maths

Children will undertake 2 “Number Squares” this week.

Circles and triangles – 1 multiplication (using tables 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 10), 1 addition.

Squares and rectangles – 2 addition squares.

Give your child a limit of TEN MINUTES only to tackle each square. Ask them if they have improved their classroom best time. If your child does not complete the square, don’t give them extra time, the challenge is to get as far as possible in the ten minutes.

Choose 3 words and do “RANSOM WRITING” – cut out the letters from newspapers or old magazines and stick them down to spell the three words.

Nutty As A Noodle   Mon – Daft Jack.  Tues – The Silly Sisters.  Wed – The Foolish King.  Thurs – reread a favourite with good expression.

Spelling

Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check (LSCWC) is a technique the children have used in school to reinforce the retention of spelling words.

  • First have a good look at the word. How many letters? Any phonemes they recognise?
  • Say the word out loud.
  • Cover it up so they cannot see it.
  • Write the word neatly.
  • Check and see if it was correct (tick!)

Rainbow write the word using all the colours of the rainbow.

 

Maths

Spread the addition tasks over the week using the sheets. Allow your child to self assess using the answers on the reverse of the sheet.

 

Please cover your child’s jotter with wrapping paper or similar paper to keep it in good condition.

Pizza and pasta perfection

This week we have learned more about the roles and responsibilities in running a busy restaurant. We started the week with a really interesting and fun visit from Adam and Ahmed. They came from Toni’s Pizzeria and told us about the importance of hygiene and safety before showing us how to make pizzas with fresh ingredients. We used good listening and teamwork skills to make our own delicious pizza 🍕.

  

 

Inspired by this experience we then went shopping to buy ingredients to use in further cooking. We used mental maths and calculator skills to stay within our budget and well as applying problem solving strategies.

        

Finally we used the ingredients we had bought and used our creativity to make a variety of pizzas, wraps and pasta dishes. Lots of us improved our cutting skills and tasted new things. Thank you to the adults who helped with advice, support and tidying up!

  • We came 20th of 72 classes in last week’s ERC Sumdog competition! Well done!
  • Stevenson go on their reward day trip this Thursday 14th.
  • This week is financial education week and we will focus on this in numeracy and maths.
  • P2 are selling animal erasers (60p each) in an enterprise topic with proceeds going to the SSPCA. Bring in money if you wish to buy one.
  • Look in your child’s bag on Friday for this year’s report.
  • Can you join us on a trip to Morrison’s on Wednesday 20th June at 11am? Please let me know. We are going to buy supplies for our restaurant.
  • Can you help us prepare food in our restaurant on Friday 22nd June at 2pm? Please let me know.
