The University of Stirling are delighted to invite you to take part in our exciting upcoming October Academic Taster Series. These sessions, led by our fantastic lecturers, will give students an insight into what a first-year lecture is like, providing an excellent bridge between Higher/Advanced Higher and University content.

 

The sessions are all free of charge and appropriate for multiple ages with guardians welcome to join. Our Student Recruitment team and current Student Ambassadors will be on hand to answer all your questions.

NHS virtual work experience programme.

Reminder about upcoming NHS  virtual work experience programme which takes place on 3 October 2021.

Any registered students will be emailed logins for their work experience portals by Friday 1 October 2021. Pupils should remember to check their spam folders and to mark their attendance on the day in order to receive certificates.

If you have not yet registered but are however interested in the following careers:

Nursing, Midwifery, Paramedicine, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Radiography, Prosthetics and Orthotics, Speech and language therapy and Pharmacy!

You can still register for a place on the NHS Virtual Work Experience Programme at any time across the 6 month programme. Applications for this programme are now open, and they will be open throughout this academic year, with the next session taking place on the 3rd October!

ANNUAL CARERS PARLIAMENT EVENT

Spaces for the annual Carers Parliament event ran by Carers Scotland are quickly being booked up in advance of the event which runs on 4, 5 and 7 October next month!

This year’s Carers Parliament will be focusing on the Scottish Government’s proposals for reforms of social care.

The panel on day three has now been confirmed! It will feature a Q&A session with Kevin Stewart, Minister for Mental Wellbeing and Social Care, Councillor Stuart Currie, Spokesperson on Health and Social Care from COSLA and Shubhanna Hussain-Ahmed, from the Coalition of Carers who also sits on the Social Covenant Steering Group helping to guide the development of the National Care Service and a representative from the third sector.

Medic Insight Calendar of Events 2021/2022

Medic Insight Glasgow is a student-run society at the University of Glasgow that aims to support and guide aspiring doctors through both their decision to apply to medicine and the application process. Medic Insight is a non-profit, voluntary organisation developed by current medical students with the generous help and support of both the University of Glasgow and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. We were established in 2015, and have since run annual events for S4, S5 and S6 pupils.

We will be running numerous events in the coming academic year (which will all be conducted virtually via Zoom), and we would love to have as many interested pupils from your school along as possible! This includes Interview Preparation Events, Insight into Medicine Programmes (S4 Day and S5 Week Programme) and our new S1-S3 Exploring Careers in Healthcare Event.
