Support Group Block 2
We are moving onto block two of our support groups. These support groups are designed to help build confidence, manage anxiety and improve resilience. There are also groups that would help with social and emotional interaction.
Our support groups promote our school values of Fairness, Ambition, Integrity, Respect and Responsibility.
If you think this is something that would be beneficial to your child, please follow the link below which will give you a bit more information about each of the support groups on offer as well as how to sign your child up.
Please make sure you have a discussion with your child before signing them up to any group, so that they are in agreement to signing up.

Careers Fair 2021
Welcome to the Williamwood High School Virtual Careers Fair 2021. Here you will find resources providing a wealth of information for our young people which will support them to make informed decisions regarding their future.
Use the Young Person Scenarios video resource to see 6 common scenarios our young people find themselves in. This ranges from know the career they wish to pursue but want more information on the job itself to not knowing what to do after school.

Williamwood High School Wildlife Garden
The Social Subjects department are fundraising for the ‘Williamwood High Wildlife Garden’ and have entered Tesco’s Community Grant competition. The top prize is £1500! Please vote in your local Tesco Stores:

Voting is already open and closes on 31st Dec 2021.

National 5 Virtual Information Evening
This year’s National 5 Information Evening will again be presented in the form of a series of online videos which staff have been working hard to produce.
A number of subject videos have already been made available and the remainder will be added by Friday 22 October. The relevant page can be found here.

ParentsPortal
S1 tracking reports will be available on Parentsportal system on 21st October. To enable you to access your child’s tracking report, we would be grateful if you would register with this system and link your child. When creating your account, please enter S1 as your child’s yeargroup.
Please find here a letter from East Renfrewshire Council explaining the new Parentsportal system for parents. The system can also be accessed through a link on the left hand side of the school website.
This letter contains instructions for signing up and linking to your child. Please note that the information you enter must match exactly the information currently held in school.

PTA – Prize Draw
Message from PTA
If you want a chance to win a £50 voucher for The White Cart in Busby while raising funds for your PTA remember to purchase your £5 voluntary draw ticket available on ParentPay.
This year the PTA are hoping to purchase a defibrillator that will be positioned at the back of the school for anyone using the outdoor facilities.
Tickets purchased by Wednesday 29th September will be entered into the first draw which will take place on Thursday 30th September. If you’re not the lucky winner this time, there’s still nine draws to go and your ticket is entered into each one.
Tickets purchased after the draw dates will be entered into subsequent draws.

British Schools Skiing
A huge congratulations to Eva, Gregor, Ally and Rory who are British Schools Ski Champions! The team came first place in the mixed team category.
The Williamwood B team also skied extremely well on the day. Well done to Irvine, Henry and Finlay!
Williamwood High School – PTA
Hello from Williamwood PTA
The school environment may have changed but fundraising is still essential and the school needs this support more than ever. The money raised by the PTA can really make a big difference, to enhance the experience for all the pupils.
We don’t just pay for football strips. The money raised is distributed right across the whole school. Over the last year we’ve contributed towards, New Furniture for the Nurture Room, Wireless Tablets for the Maths Department, the Chess Club was able to purchase New Chess Sets and Clocks, a Keyboard and Guitar for the Music Department, Computing needed Raspberry Pis, we purchased a Digital Camera for the Art Department, made contribution to the Be Kind Campaign and the Car Park Improvement Project.
Fundraising needs to continue and although we won’t be present at parents’ evenings or fayres in the near future you can still donate and get involved. Last year all our fundraising was successfully done through ParentPay.
So we’re starting the new term with voluntary PTA donation of £5 per child through ParentPay. If you choose to donate you’ll be entered each month (September to June) into a monthly draw with the chance to win great prizes such as vouchers for local shops and restaurants.

Refuweegee Charity Donation Drive
Refuweegee (ref-u-wee-gee) is a Glasgow-based charity set up in 2015 to provide a warm welcome to forcibly displaced people arriving in the city. To this date, they have provided over 10,000 community-built, personal welcome packs and emergency support packs to people all over Glasgow and across Scotland.
Williamwood’s Refugee Ambassador group are supporting the Science Department in a whole school donation drive for this charity, much in need now more than ever.
The charity are in need of the following:
– Non-perishable foods (rice, pasta, tea, coffee, UHT milk, tinned tomatoes, vegetarian soup, beans, tinned vegetables, pasta sauce, tuna, biscuits, juice etc.).
– Toiletries (shampoo, shower gel, soap, nappies, toilet roll, toothbrush & toothpaste, deodorant & sanitary or shaving items)
– Stationary
– Rucksacks
– Hat, gloves & scarf (2 of the 3 would be ideal)
– Something to read – varying reading abilities so all books are acceptable. Please do consider the content though. Books don’t need to be brand new.
– Colouring books
– Jigsaws
– Board games
– Toys that are clean, in full working order with all parts present.
If you would like to get involved, donations can be dropped off by pupils at the following locations:

We are looking for items to be donated no later than Friday 8th October.
