The School Chess Tournament: A Thrilling Event!

It started earlier than usual on December 22nd, and a ton of students participated. A total of 30 students took part in the tournament, while another 20 came to support and watch the exciting event.

The tournament was greatly put together by Abhi and the chess committee, who ensured that everything ran smoothly. Two separate rooms were set up, with one room having its full purpose just for the tournament itself, which was silent and intense, and the other room was for casual games and practice, where students could chat and relax.

The atmosphere was electric, with excitement and tension in the air as the competitors studied their Swiss, Ruy Lopez, and Queen’s Gambit openings. Every move was critical, and the students had to think several steps ahead to out think their opponents.

The school had just purchased new wooden chess sets, which made the games look super fancy. They also had new chess clocks that added a professional type aspect to the matches.

Overall, the school chess tournament is ongoing, and the event has been a massive success so far, with many students showcasing their skills and love for the game. It has brought the school community together and encouraged a sense of ambition and fun, and we can’t wait to see who will come out on top!

Evie is extremely sensitive to the needs of individual young people and has shown a real commitment to this work, developing her own confidence and understanding of the various additional support needs and what support can be put in place to help.

She has achieved her Gold Saltire Award after engaging in fifty hours volunteering and will also achieve a Personal Development Award at the end of S4.
