Online support for learning

Online learning for all pupils can be accessed through Google Classrooms on Glow.  Please see information below:

All Williamwood young people have access to learning materials at home via GLOW, through their glow username and password.
https://glow.rmunify.com/

Every department has Google Classroom or Microsoft team resources. In these online spaces there are notes, PowerPoints, websites, past papers and revision materials for classes. We are endeavouring at this point in time to add as much information as possible to these excellent online resources. Young people should make full use of them.  A guide to support pupils to log on can be viewed here.  Google Classroom codes for subject areas can be accessed here.

GLOW user names and passwords can only be supplied to pupils.
Our school website also has lots of information and teaching materials under the departmental tabs. https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/er/Williamwood/departments/

Any pupil having trouble accessing their Google Classroom accounts should contact the school office by email.  Someone will call you back to talk you through the set up process.

Many young people in senior classes (S4-S6) make use of the excellent online scholar resources for selected subjects.

School Communication

Williamwood High School is now closed. Please direct any urgent communication through the school email system: SchoolMail@williamwood.e-renfrew.sch.uk  which will continue to be monitored.

Parents/carers should email the school mail address above rather than phoning the school office for glow usernames and passwords. Our clerical staff are, largely speaking, no longer in school offices so will deal with this from online and email you back. Please  also find a useful guide for accesing Glow here.

Skills Development Scotland

SDS are continuing to provide career, information, advice and guidance for all young people. Pupils and parents can continue to contact our Careers Adviser for support. This support will be via telephone or online.  Contact should be made to the local centre.  Details of your nearest centre can be found on My World of Work.  SDS Careers Advisers will continue to proactively contact pupils to offer them ongoing support.

School Closure Update

You may be aware of the recent announcement from the Scottish Government with regards the completion of course work for S4-S6 students.  Based on the latest public health advice, and with immediate effect, no young person with coursework to complete should attend school to do so.  The SQA has not issued guidance as yet, but be reassured that teachers, who know your children best as learners, will be doing everything possible to ensure they get their best possible qualification.  As such, only those families who have been identified as qualifying for a place in school as informed by the head teacher, should attend.  Further arrangements will be made and will follow in due course.

Williamwood Netball

This week has been a very busy week for the Williamwood netball girls. Monday 9th March saw the S3 Silver squad travel to Waid Academy, Anstruther. They put in an assured performance and qualified for the national silver level final on Tuesday 17th March at Oriam, Heriot-Watt University.

On the same day the S1 Gold squad travelled to Pebbles High School where the came up against a very organised team. They unfortunately suffered defeat but the school are very proud of the girls in securing a place in the Gold semi-finals after only one school session playing as a team. The future of netball at Williamwood is in good hands.

Finally, on Tuesday 10th March the Open B netballers travelled to Strathallan School, Perth for their Silver semi-final. It was not to be for our S3 – S5 girls as they came up against a ruthless team in Strathallan who were worthy winners.

Miss McLaughlin, Miss Hood, Mr Allan and Anna Beattie are so proud of the achievements of all girls and their commitment to netball this session.

Pupil Achievement

Congratulations to Erin (S1) who won the Scotland West Crit Racing Competition which is a 7 race competition as well as the North West Youth Tour.  This tour is a multi-day event which is a UK wide competition witj three stages – time trial, hill stage and circuit race.  Amazing achievements Erin.  Well done!

Year in Industry

Over the past few years Williamwood High School has established a fantastic working relationship with the Engineering Development Trust, resulting in many of our pupils undertaking a “Year in Industry” before starting their university course.  The Year in Industry has vacancies with companies working in technology, science, engineering, business and finance across the UK – from leading FTSE 100 companies to small innovative start-ups.  Should this be of interest to you please follow the link https://www.etrust.org.uk/yini-vacancies?Location=Scotland or see Mr Sudding in Science 4.
