Scrub Bags to NHS and Care Homes

The F&TT continue to make scrub bags for NHS and care home staff and have now made over 80.  We have received some photos featuring some of the department’s bags from the organisers – Nifty Home Stitchers.   So far, bags have been donated to:

Lockdown Kitchen

As lockdown has gone on, many of us have exhausted our repertoire of tried and tested recipes, the time has come to share. F&TT department have set up a google classroom page: Lockdown kitchen.  Basically, the idea is  to post recipes, cooking hints and tips or even to ask for recipes or questions related to food.  Please join in and I am looking to try some new tried and tested recipes.  The GC code is: ymcgiuq   Many thanks and very much looking forward to reading about your culinary triumphs.

SQA Arrangement

SQA arrangements are different this year with exams not taking place. The link here clarifies the procedures that all schools in ERC will follow. Note that results will still be released on 4th Aug and schools cannot share estimated grades prior to that.

Overview

Tideway are re-connecting London with the River Thames, by building a 25km Super Sewer under the Thames to intercept those nasty spills and clean up our river for the good of the city. 

If you are interested in apprenticeships in areas ranging from civil engineering, boatmasters, business administration and digital engineering, then come along and meet the Tideway team in this interactive online workshop.

Who should attend: 

– Students interested in finding out more about a career in a revolutionary London project. 

Agenda: 

– Introduction to Tideway and their project, as well as company culture
– Tips on Applications
– Apprenticeship workshop
– Networking with Tideway Professionals

Railway Trespassing

Network Rail has launched a new awareness-raising campaign to warn against trespassing on the railway during the COVID-19 lockdown.  Trespass is proving to be an issue across the country including locations in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fife, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire, Renfrewshire, Perthshire, the Lothians and the Highlands.near Dalmeny.  Network Rail works closely with the British Transport Police to keep Scotland’s Railway secure and trespassers and vandals will be prosecuted. The public can also help to keep the railway safe by contacting Network Rail’s 24-hour helpline on 03457 114141 to report any locations where trespassers are gaining access to the tracks. 

Convener’s Awards – Online Celebration

Due to current circumstances, this year’s ERC Convener’s Awards ceremony has been cancelled.  However, in order to recognise the outstanding achievement of pupils, ERC will be celebrating the amazing achievements of young people online.  We look forward to seeing all of the videos and Williamwood’s on Thursday 14th May.  More information can be viewed here.

e-Sgoil online courses

e-Sgoil is offering an innovative and exciting programme of online, real-time courses for Scottish school pupils during the current term. Participation is free!  Pupils need to enrol via a link in the document attached here and then log in on their laptop at the time allocated.
