Help! I’ve Got a Teenager

Help! I’ve Got a Teenager

On the evening of Tuesday 14th March, we welcomed parents/carers and pupils to Williamwood to share information on the support we provide to young people and families. Brian Castello from our partners at Headstrong kicked off the evening with a presentation on the importance of young people’s mental health, before we broke off into various workshops led by the Pupil Support team.

All of the presentations from the workshops can be found here: https://sites.google.com/er.glow.scot/pupilsupportwebsite/information-on-supports

If you have any questions about the support available to your young person, please feel free to contact their pupil support teacher at any time.

Williamwood High School Chess Club Tournament

Williamwood High School Chess Club Tournament

The annual tournament has come to a very close final game after Matthew and Abhi battled it out, first drawing, then reaching a tense end.  Matthew (S5) came first and has been crowned the top player in the school – congratulations!  A close runner up prize went to Abhi (S3) and third prize to Kester (S2).  This year, the tournament was bigger than ever, with around 40 competitors who played each week from January – June.  The club is one of the biggest in the school and members enjoyed an end of term party last week with cakes, drinks and prizes for every competitor!  Thanks to the pupils (Eilidh S6, Jonah S6 and Abhi S3) who managed the online tournament, dealing amazingly well with absences and draws.   Well done all – keep “chess-ing” over the summer!
