Meaningful Career Conversations – Free Webinar

How to have meaningful career conversations with young people – Thursday 27 January 2022

Parents and carers can learn more about the power of having meaningful careers conversations with their young person on a free webinar later this month.

Careers Advisers, Kay Hume and Mhairi Galashan, from Skills Development Scotland will talk about the key things to remember in steering career conversations. They will offer hints and tips as well as introduce parents and carers to My World of Work.

Following their online presentation, there will also be an opportunity to ask the Advisers questions to support your career conversation planning.

Parents and carers can register for our session here: https://meaningfulcareerconversations.eventbrite.co.uk

Our chess tournament kicked off again last week for the first time since 2020!  We have 35 keen competitors who will be playing match games every week for the next few months to find the top player in the school. S1 to S6 pupils all stand a chance and it’s a great way to meet new people and also improve your chess skills with a wee bit of a competitive elementWell done to S6 pupils Eilidh and Jonah for organising this year’s tournament, as well as S2 pupil Abhi for volunteering so enthusiastically to get involved with the management of it this year.   Good luck to all players!

Excellence Award – Business, Computing Science & Psychology

In December, BICT teachers were asked to nominate one student within the faculty who has really made an impact throughout the first term. These young people have worked hard, demonstrated kindness and shown a real commitment to self-improvement. We are very proud of each of them and we take this opportunity to congratulate them on this award. Each student received a certificate in class yesterday.

Support Groups

We are now about to start block three of our support groups. These support groups are designed to help build confidence, manage anxiety and improve resilience. There are also groups that would help with social and emotional interaction.

Our support groups promote our school values of Fairness, Ambition, Integrity, Respect and Responsibility.

If you think this is something that would be beneficial to your child, please find more information here as well as details on how your child can sign up  for the groups.  Information is also included in the year group GC pages.

Please make sure you have a discussion with your child before signing them up to any group, so that they are in agreement to signing up.

If you require any more information on this please contact the relevant Pupil Support teacher.
